  6. RE: mas.to/@KetoKrazt/117473291232

    You might elect someone who BELIEVES the Universe is <10,000 years old -- beliefs are private, among persons of good taste --but a FOOTBALL COACH in US Senate ? Well, he isn't Herschel Walker.

    WHY should those who **write the laws** be attorneys ?

    1) Knows how legal language can be inadequate, deceptive, fatally flawed, slyly contrived to not do what it seems to do --
    how's that Epstein Transparency Act doing [signed into law, like new Russia sanctions] ?

    2) Not thrown by the word "Notwithstanding" or the incompatible meanings of "sanction"; functional in English if not with Latin;

    3) could name you some of the most popular fallacies in logic;

    4) considers **maybe we missed something** e.g. no penalties under the Hatch Act, which is daily, flagrantly, flouted in the present putrid regime;

    AND all of this applies right down to the level of part-time state legislators -- like in Texas, see what Molly Ivins had to say.
    "Coach", they call him !

  8. I heard Sam Phillips in Toronto at about this time. She had never toured much (at least, in her modern career) and it was so amazing to hear her in person.

  9. I started watching this show at the very beginning bc I read that Sam Phillips was doing the music (all those little la-la-las? That’s my favorite musical artist of all time. I’ve been listening to her since she had a different name). These days, I don’t like it all that much, but it reminds me of a time I loved.

  10. I am watching this specific episode bc I’ve been looking for it for so long, and finally figured out which one it was. S3, ep 2. The one where Lorelai tells Christopher “Then Honey, we are where we are.” Lauren Graham and Kelly Bishop were so great in this episode.

  11. I’m cracking up at this Gilmore Girls episode from… 2002? Do modern generations get this show at all? There are references to Sister Sledge and Vince Foster. There’s no way anyone under… maybe 50, 45 at the least… would get that one.

  12. I work in the spookiest building on campus AND I have great old windows in my office. Bought some lighted ghosts and I am gonna have fun with college students. (I would like to do a whole projector thing, but don’t want to spend that much on something that security will probably tell me I can’t do)

  18. TIL: All the accidentals (b, #, ♮) are some form of b.

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accident

    says:

    the # sign and the ♮ sign in musical notation are derived from a square b.

    In a Kiki and Bouba tangent, the round Bb was used to refer to the soft hexachord, the hexachordum molle (in German, minor keys are still called Moll) and the square one B♮ was used to refer to the hard hexachord, the hexachordum durum (in German, major keys are called Dur).
