It has been an honor and delight getting to know @Tzipporah and @Yehuda over the past few months.
If you haven’t met them, they’re the grandfather & grandkid duo that co-admin #TurtleIsland, a server focused on building community with Native/Indigenous people, other BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) people, and allies. To me, their story perfectly encapsulates the best thing about the fediverse and Mastodon: People coming together to build a place for themselves.

Not at all! I love @FediTips, I boost their posts and send links to their work often. Our Help Centre is specifically geared towards Mastodon.social users, and the #fediquette guide is intended as a quick primer to help people get up to speed on our cultural norms.
When it comes to getting the word out about the #Fediverse, and educating people about how to have a good time here, I generally take the attitude more better!

I'm equally—maybe even more—excited about another resource in our Help Centre.
#Fediquette: A Community Etiquette Guide
Our community is full of passionate people who care deeply about improving accessibility and respecting consent. This resource will help newcomers to understand our cultural norms here in the #fediverse and #SocialWeb.

I'm also thrilled to share an important resource for our community: Community Standards.
This resource expands on the #MastodonSocial and #MastodonOnline server rules, to help clarify what is and isn't allowed on our servers. Let us know what you think.

First, we’re sharing a couple of new resources for the #MastodonSocial and #MastodonOnline communities. They are part of our new Help Centre. These are living resources! If you have feedback or questions about them, let us know.

Excited to share our community vision for @Mastodon today: we are for the people.
This year our focus is on ensuring everyone can have a safe and fun experience on #MastodonSocial and #MastodonOnline, and doing more to support and celebrate the diverse servers running #Mastodon, its forks, and every #Fediverse application out there.

Happy new year, friends - I hope you managed to get some good rest and reflection over these past weeks. I’m so excited about what our team is cooking up, and I can’t wait to tell you more about it VERY soon. In the meantime…

@Mastodon @mellifluousbox @renchap @Gargron
As I move into this new role, which includes leading the operation of Mastodon's flagship instances (#MastodonSocial and #MastodonOnline) it's crucial to the team and I that our plans reflect the needs of the community.
Our door is always open to hear your ideas.

I started my new job at #AWS this week. I never thought I'd say that — my first job in #tech was at DataStax, a leading contributor to #ApacheCassandra. AWS released their managed #Cassandra service during my tenure, and the @nytimes opinion article detailing #Amazon's exploitative practices in #OpenSource was published right before I left. But since then, my new teammates on the open source strategy and marketing (#OSSM) team have done amazing work shifting Amazon's #FOSS posture.

Hi @seph, I lead #FastForward – can you email me at [email protected] with the name of your project and some more information about what happened so I can try and help get to the bottom of this?
-
Given the revelations about maintainer burnout that #OpenSource has experienced over the past months, the entire #FOSS ecosystem must ensure maintainers have the tools they need to sustain their projects.
Fastly does this by donating our global network to open source projects, so they can serve the community at scale. You help us make this sustainable by telling us how important it is to you.
So if you like #FastForward — let us know <3

Incredible to see the adoption trajectory for @rust as demonstrated by GitHub stars in @jdno’s talk at #RustNationUK24! Not to mention these anecdotes:
- #USGov recommending use of #RustLang for #MemorySafety
- Adoption by #Microsoft in #Windows and #Android
Rust’s future is bright and so is the internet’s because of it. #Fastly @devs is so proud to support the #RustFoundation (and thanks so much for the shout JD 🤗) -
⏩ We've supported open source since the moment our servers blicked on. #NTPpool, @w3c and @openstreetmap were among the first.
