I just finished DCC 3. That was a hard book to get through. I'm not sure why. People have said because of the confusion of the tangle. But I really didn't feel like anything caught my interest. Whereas I just started book 4 and am already hooked already so hard!

I finished book three of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series Monday night.
Overall? Really enjoying them. I did find that book three bogged a bit for me in terms of _so much mechanics_ about the particular dungeon and such.
I've had the same problem with a few of the Murderbot books. "Action" scenes in books can get boggy really fast if the author is trying to set up some kind of Rube Goldberg mechanics / intricacy. Sometimes it pays off. Sometimes it makes my eyes glaze over.
That minor gripe aside, I'm really loving them. I'm a sucker for any story with a sentient cat, I must admit. I predict I'll be getting several Princess Donut items for the holidays...

Readers of Dungeon Crawler Carl, are you also reading the Backstage at the Pineapple Cabaret installments at the end of book? I haven't been reading those, but I saw something saying that the events of that story link in to the main story in a later volume. So now I'm thinking I need to go back and read those (I'm currently on the fourth book, The Gate of the Feral Gods.)

Nicht so fein ziseliert und umfangreich wie manch anderes veröffentlichtes Abenteuer, sondern eher kompakt und geradlinig.
Aber gerade dadurch perfekt geeignet für spontan-isches Durchspielen ohne große Vorbereitung an einem Abend. -
