Just stated using bookwyrm, joined the largest instance. I really like it in concept, but man it seems slow and it hangs a lot. Was yesterday just a slow day or is it always like that? I made a second account on the rambling readers instance and it was WAY faster but lacks in interaction.

I think this is the first western work I’ve recommended here. It’s a #webtoon, though, and those have shown up before.
For those who don’t know, #DungeonCrawlerCarl is a series of novels about the earth being exploited by aliens, with the chief resource being the entertainment value of watching some of the survivors try to survive a video game-esque dungeon.
This is the latest adaptation—there’s been a couple audio versions—and it does its job well, condensing some moments and letting visuals handle things when appropriate. It started after the series has been well under way, so we get panels showing characters entering the dungeon who won’t appear properly for a long while. The art is quite good, although some fans have complained that Carl looks too young. (He’s only 27!)

Hiya Fediverse! I'm Grace - a 40-something that is getting to do a whole lot of self discovery "late" in life.
After I finally stopped drinking and got "California Sober" - :verified420: - I realized what I was drinking to numb... the fact that I wasn't giving the real me the space I deserved.
I live in a red state in the US, so I'm taking my time with socially transitioning. I don't know where I will land - right now I am enjoying taking my time listening to myself and figuring out what is right for me.
And if anyone has recommendations on skirts for a large-waisted 5'10" person (us size 16-18, 36/30 or 38/30 in mens pants), please LMK! Everything I have tried on Amazon is dog shit and it is still scary to walk into a brick & mortar store to find things.
I am really enjoying diving into jewelry, press on nails (which are doing wonders for stopping my nail biting), fashion, and makeup. Hopefully someday soon I'll be able to share a face photo with some makeup I'm proud of. But right now it looks very "first time using makeup"... mainly because it is.
Other things I love - #DungeonCrawlerCarl, #TTRPGs, using #archLinux via #CachyOS, #ffxiv, and tinkering on bicycles.
I have an amazingly supportive partner and she is been my rock as I started to come out to myself and then her. I'm still looking for in-person community as well, but being in a suburb of Dallas doesn't make that easy.

In April 2026, I finished reading 8 books. I'm now caught up on the #DungeonCrawlerCarl series and awaiting the next book on May 12. And still making progress on #Spellmonger. I didn't realize just how many books there would be when I started (19 and counting!? plus several anthologies and two side trilogies). My roomie opted to read the trilogies in story order, but I'm skipping the side quests for now. I want to know what happens!
My #nonfiction selection for April was the audiobook version of Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick. I needed something lighter, and that fit the bill. I added a couple of her movies I haven't seen to my watch list. And I think I'll watch Into The Woods again. Boy, do I hate Annie, though.

The rights to the #DungeonCrawlerCarl Series were acquired by Universal International Studios early last year, but 𝘝𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺 reports that the series is now officially in development.
The network will be Peacock, and the executive producer will be Seth MacFarlane‘s Fuzzy Door.

Finished #RedRising today. I'm still not sure how I feel about it, the it definitely felt like a slow burn but the ending definitely landed and had some nice highs in the finale.
I think in the end it just felt a bit too close to Hunger Games for me, though it does appear to be leaving that phase moving forward. I'm still waiting on the next #DungeonCrawlerCarl installment so might dive into the next book in the meantime to see where it all goes.

I finished 9 books in March 2026. Still enjoying and making progress on the #Spellmonger and #DungeonCrawlerCarl series. Both have a lot of books, and they're on the longer side. My roomie is also listening to the Spellmonger books and had spoiled a few minor things for me when they were ahead. I have now passed them by roughly two books, to my estimation. 🎉
My #nonfiction book this month was James Nestor's Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art, which I listened to sped up. It was fascinating and kind of blew my mind a little bit. I highly recommend it, especially for anyone suffering from sleep apnea and/or crooked teeth. (CW: medical procedures, animal testing, and a passing mention of cannibalism.)
