  1. How do you scale public sector digital services for 65+ government websites while maintaining 99.9%+ uptime across 3.2 billion annual hits? 🏛️⚡

Our latest case study with Interpersonal Frequency breaks down how we migrated their government portfolio to Managed #Kubernetes:
    • Decoupled Next.js & #Drupal architecture
    • Automated IP allowlisting via custom #Fastly security (FSA)
    • 5-min multi-cloud sync (AWS to GCP) for disaster recovery

  2. Nearly half of all internet traffic today is scrapers, bots, and AI crawlers, so we decided to send an AI teammate into battle.

We’re excited to be at #FastlyXcelerateSydney! Our Principal Architect Sean Hamlin is teaming up with Guy Brown (Staff Enterprise Security Architect at #Fastly) for a special session: "How @amazeeio uses AI to fight AI on Fastly."

Discover how our #OpenClaw AI teammate interrogates Fastly logs in real time for proactive issue resolution!

  3. #GitHub down? Nixpkgs can and should in most cases be fetched from channels.nixos.org because that is redistributed world-wide via #fastly with much higher availability and IPv6 support.

    E.g. in your #flake use

    nixpkgs.url = "channels.nixos.org/nixos-26.05";

instead of the github-flavored expression. Works for all supported channels.

  4. Attending #FastlyXcelerate in Sydney? So are we 👋

We can’t wait to meet the #Fastly crowd and get to know your vibe. ☮️

We’ll also be co-hosting a session on how to use AI to fight AI bots with Fastly, presented by Guy Brown from Fastly and Sean Hamlin from amazee.io.

So if you’re there, please say hi and listen in! 👂

Btw, it’s free, so register here to attend

also, in case you didn't know,
    rpm-ostree kargs --append=
    is really great
and rpm-ostress works over torsocks, atomic just doesn't like systemd so run 'tor' manually

  8. We have been hit by major traffic from a malicious crawler obfuscating its IPs and User Agents with rotating residential proxies. In the past, this caused outages as frequently as every 8hrs.

Earlier this year we were able to increase protection with #Fastly's dynamic challenge interstitial, but this malicious service can now bypass it.

We have increased protection, but unfortunately users will see captchas.

We will seek to improve user experience while still blocking this bad actor.

  9. Thank you to all the devs out there creating apps I can buy a license for one time and own. You are appreciated! @tootapp @tg #Toot #Current #MoodCameraApp #Epoch #Fastly #deathtosubscriptions

  10. How do you handle 2 million festival visitors online?

We partnered with Previon Plus for Züri Fäscht to achieve 96.64% #CDN hit ratio and 99%+ cache coverage.

Started prep 5 months early, optimized #Drupal + #Fastly CDN, survived a 1.4M hit attack days before launch.

Join our webinar with Fastly on July 22 to learn more about high-traffic prep.

  13. #TIL
#fastly hat zwar einen schönes DualStack CDN, leider sind die Nameserver alle #LegacyIP only.

  14. Welcome back @fastly as @netdevconf 0x19 bronze sponsor! We appreciate you!

  15. FYI: Fastly brings Google tag gateway to its CDN, promising 14% signal uplift: Fastly Ad Tag Gateway launched April 8 with Google, routing tags through first-party domains and claiming 14% signal uplift for advertisers on Fastly's CDN. ppc.land/fastly-brings-google- #Fastly #GoogleTag #CDN #DigitalMarketing #Advertising

  16. @jerry Adding #fastly hashtag could help, even at this late date in the thread. If nothing else, they should know that a significant mastoperson like yourself needs to ask. (I can forward this in email to my peeps at Fastly if you want.)

  20. curl.se average bandwidth served per second (by #Fastly) over the last month

244 Mbps on average. Peak at 293 Mbps.

A total of about 76 terabytes.

  21. curl.se over the last 30 days:

Served 77.12 TB of data at 3.81k requests/second.

95.91% of the object sizes were <1KB.
0.01% of the downloaded object sizes were 1-10MB (a tarball download)

99.69% of the content delivered was cached by the CDN.

    Thanks #Fastly!

  22. I noticed I can pull #IPv6 ratio from my AS stats. And I can only say:

Fucking #Fastly 🤬 (and no, it's not a lot of Github)

(Also I just noticed CDNEXT and CDN77 are the same network, they use a different AS for v6 for whatever reason?)

It only says "SHAME" if there was no IPv6 packet at all. If it says "0%" there was something, just too low to count.

Also, CCC (mostly media.ccc.de, but maybe also some e-mails?) delivered not a single IPv4 packet :awesome:
