Enjoyed talking with @prcutler on this ep! Learn how I planned to get the drop on Happy Meal toys, the Isle of Misfit Boards, rising to the top of the charts with a four chord song, what would happen if Freud played Shadowrun, and the Macropad Hotkeys II.

New Macropad Hotkeys II release is out! If you need a configurable macropad for DaVinci Resolve, Audacity, Zoom, BG3, whatevs - this release should be what you need. Configure multiple pages of hotkey macros to scroll through, with starter configs in the wiki:

Built for the @adafruit Macropad!

John Park has a really cool writeup on the Hexpad - a MIDI controller with an extremely nifty hex key layout that plays chord intervals, a little bit like the Macropad 4chord MIDI. The mode selection is pretty clever.

#prusa3d just launched four new recycled PLA filaments with biobased pigments - they look really cool. Choose red algae for a natural brown, from winemaking byproduct, beige from processed corn, or white from food leftovers. Pellets themselves come from PLA foil manufacturing waste.

I was really able to hyper-focus thanks to a track YouTube Music suggested, and of course it's from the album "IBM 1401: A User's Manual." Well played, Jóhann Jóhannsson.

I re-did the Macropad 4chord MIDI demo with Renoise since it was originally just in SD and was lacking my witty commentary.
The Renoise demo is now newly updated and available at https://youtu.be/5VwU2DpjD-4 !

In related news, just released version 3.0 of the Macropad 4chord MIDI.
The new autochord mode binds a chord to a single key. By pressing adjacent keys you can also play the minor, 7th, augmented, diminished, major 7th, and minor 7th chords.
Now you can play arpeggiated chords easily in "triad" mode, but also play variations of the chords within a progression using autochords.

An experiment where I attempt to have Google Bard help me compose a song using the MacroPad 4chord MIDI.
It was awful.

Okay John Mayer just did a four chord song. So now of course I have to add it to the 4chord Macropad.
MusicRadar thinks this is a ii-V-I-IV progression in G, but I always thought the "Take On Me" progression was ii-V-I-iii...

It's amazing how much better I'm able to focus after enabling the dark noise background from MacOS's hearing accessibility settings. This is a lifehack more people need to know about... way better than background music.

The Internet Archive's beautiful Calculator Drawer is a fantastic realization of an actual drawer in my basement. My first open source project was blackjack for the HP 48G+... unfortunately distribution mechanism was VOLUMES of BASIC (I think?) written on notebook paper.

So I am attempting to understand Queueing Theory that is more advanced than Little's Law and of course came across Defunctland's history of Disney's FastPass. I had a big guffaw when they showed an excerpt of a M/M/1 paper, scoffed at how you'd have to hire an engineering team "just to get to the bottom of this incredibly niche curiosity..." and then they do just that. So great.
