My good deed for the day (I thought so, anyway): our sports reporter, a kid of about 30, was listening to some decent big band stuff in the office this morning. I talked him into throwing on some Glenn Miller and more precisely this tune. He hadn’t heard of Glenn Miller before our conversation; I shared with him how Maj. Miller died in a plane crash in December of 1944. Next thing I know, the office was jammin Glenn. I think I did OK.

November, 2001, at Kansas City’s Kemper Arena. The kids’ mom and I took the boys to see U2 on the “Elevation” tour. As U2 played this song, the names of all those lost on 11 September, 2001, in New York City, at the Pentagon in D.C. and in the crash of Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania scrolled on a huge screen behind the band. Just here on deck remembering.
