  6. My good deed for the day (I thought so, anyway): our sports reporter, a kid of about 30, was listening to some decent big band stuff in the office this morning. I talked him into throwing on some Glenn Miller and more precisely this tune. He hadn’t heard of Glenn Miller before our conversation; I shared with him how Maj. Miller died in a plane crash in December of 1944. Next thing I know, the office was jammin Glenn. I think I did OK.

  12. Musical Interlude: An old favorite; I first heard this back in the 80s, and it kindled my love for Dinah.

"Makin' Whoopee," performed by Dinah Washington, with Quincy Jones & His Orchestra.

  14. Listening to Glenn Miller on shuffle while sorting through and tagging my Billie Holiday collection. I need a whole lot more music from the 1940s.
