Early weekday morning on Wreck Beach and it’s quiet. I managed to plant my turquoise umbrella in a hollow between two logs, where I’m sheltered from the steady wind. I spent about 45 minutes picking up garbage - mostly cigarette butts and bottle caps. In previous years I would have filled a bigger bag, but now that you’re allowed to drink on other beaches, many of the parties have moved to textile beaches, leaving this one more naturist. #naturist #nudist #naturism #nudism #wreckBeach

Had a great swim in the waves and scratched some words on the beach before heading back up the stairs and home on my bike. #ChooseNude #wreckBeach #naturist #naturism

When the parking lot looks like this, you know it’s going to be a quiet day on the beach. Guess everyone was watching the game! #naturist #nudist #naturism #nudism #wreckBeach

Imagine feeling free, safe, and respected on Wreck Beach, Vancouver, where group meditation au naturel embodies the naturist benefits of shedding judgment, embracing body positivity, and connecting with nature in its purest form.
Skin-to-air contact connects you deeply to yourself and to the environment.
I hope you get to enjoy yourself as you discover how amazing it feels to be a naturist!
CW: water colour of clothing-free folks of diverse backgrounds engaged in group meditation with their purple yoga mats.

"Naturism Recommended: Respect Required" inspired by @renudist of Choose Nude illustrations
Being nude is very good for our minds and bodies:
1. Biology of Calm: Think of the beach as a natural "reset" button for our nervous systems. When we're all vulnerable together, our bodies finally stop scanning for threats and start truly relaxing
2. True Freedom: Instead of focusing on rules, let’s focus on the upgrade. This is about creating a sanctuary where you can experience genuine, uninhibited peace in a safe healing container
3. An Evolution: We love the "ChooseNude" spirit for making the beach accessible, but "Naturism Recommended" is our next step. It’s how we move from just being there to intentionally creating deeper intimacy and safety
4. Presence of Respect: Nudism isn't just about clothes; it's about how we show up. When we hold this space as sacred, we’re practising self-respect, which is the best way to keep the "weeds" of gawking and stress away

In #Vancouver the #WreckBeach Preservation Society does a good job of NUDE-ONLY SWIMS (not clothing optional)
NIFTY Swims, Surrey SkinnyDippers, North Van's "VanTan Club" are all linked on their awesome #Naturist page

@Crissy @Raelynn
The only thing better than a day at Wreck is a weekday at Wreck! I had never walked the foreshore trail to Trail 7 until I went to meet Raelynn, who was was at Oasis. Like you, I was the only nudie, but then I only saw about half a dozen others. I usually walk in from Trail 4 because I like the little hike along the beach.I don't think it would be necessary or possible to enforce nudity. However, if the signs said "nude beach ahead," instead of "clothing optional beach ahead," it would make it clear that nudity is more expected. I liken it to the "off-leash dog area": nobody will complain if you take your leashed dog, but the expectation is that your dog will not be leashed. I also believe that if the beach were "nude" then there would be fewer safety concerns, as those seem to ratchet up later in the day when the beach gets more crowded and more textile.
I've not seen as many of those little groups of oglers this year. Last year, a couple of us addressed several of the groups directly. TBH, I think I could have chosen a better way, but then so could they!

this is what Imagen 3 thinks of me at #wreckbeach
illustration generated by Gemini Flash 2.0 when I prompted it to visualize me at Wreck Beach.
I do have a floral dress like this (in blue) and the view at Wreck is amazing! (the beach, LOL). there's all kinds of bodies there so it's also a great space to practice and affirm body positivity.
Missing this beach and cannot go due to it being closed (another post mentions why with CW)
