  1. This is a tree, in a spot on a hill that I've been past countless times, yesterday I went to it on purpose. A small pilgrimage of sorts, I was later than planned getting there. But I got there #photographylovers #PhotographyIsArt #Outdoors #Nature #stormhour #purenz #SmallWins #resilliance #photography

  3. Huge range of plumage among the juvenile/immature migrant eagles that visited us this yr. Cool to be able to identify individuals while editing. My guess is a 2-3yr old but it take 4-5yr for adult plumage so its not easy to tell.

  4. The migrant eagles were so shy this yr that this is one of the few portraits I managed. Seems appropriate since I've taken many photos of eagles perched on that same, favored branch w/ the Iowa River behind & nearly directly below.

  5. The visiting migratory eagles have moved on and have been replaced w/ large flocks of gulls like this ring-bill. In the past when there were large eagle #'s followed by large gull #'s, it's often followed by a large # of white pelicans🤞

  6. Almost there.

Back from hiatus but likely posting sporadically. Got a busy couple of weeks and at some point I'm gonna start clearing the gardens and getting ready for spring 👍.

  7. I didn't know that Canada geese & mallards ate fish until I witnessed it the 1st time. Shad are too big to swallow so they shred them w/ their bills. They frequently let go of the fish to get a better grip so theft attempts are constant.

  8. One of the funnest things about having so many migratory eagles visiting is watching them in flight together👍 .

Well, I seemed to have figured out my cross-post to Bluesky problem so I'm back at posting eagles pics.

  9. I'm a huge big fan of gulls & came across this young gull (ID app suggests an American herring gull juvenile) w/ really gorgeous plumage while hanging out w/ the migratory eagles on Tuesday.

  10. Seeing some youngsters down on the Iowa River this week. Seems likely that this one from yesterday is in its 1-2 yr given its dark brown head.

  11. Seeing the eagles for the trees.

Another plentiful eagle day along the Iowa river yesterday. Been advised by folks on the trail that there are even more in the early mornings so I'll be back to soon.
