The bear videos I’ve posted have either been via the trailcam or through a window from inside the house.
Not this one. Yesterday was a sweltering 96°F so I decided to cool off in the brook. From the other side I heard a grunt and then rumbling and mashing of twigs and leaves. Then I saw a furry head. Obviously, something else was looking to cool off in the brook. 😂

Ahhh, a morning visit from a Kingfisher. Nothing like being greeted with a cacophony of CLAAACK!!! and all-around general grumpiness.
But once it settles in, it’s all business.

Everything melted so fast! And the brook rose accordingly. Coupled with the rain, it was roaring. This is a small winding brook in the woods but looks more like river rapids.

Ice and snow on the brook has finally melted but there’s still plenty to be found in the forest.

This might be the last walk with this much snow as we’re having a bit of a warm up this week.
