As well as the little robin belting out his sweet song, I've included other winter birds: fieldfare, waxwing, redwing, and (my favourites) starlings.

Bare trees in thick moss on our way to the hill. The area is Derroura woods, from Irish "Doire Abhra". Doire = woods, but I'm not sure about "abhra" – it's a form of "fabhra", which means eyelash or eyebrow. But "fabhra cnoic" = brow of hill, so maybe it refers to the crest of land overlooking the lake

This morning, I was faced with snow drifts up to my waist outside the front door, thanks to the high winds and snow in the night. I spent a good hour digging my way to the garage so my wife could get her car out and get to work. Thankfully, I was able to work from home.
This shot is from about an hour after I finished the first dig. I completed the second dig in the afternoon, and am very relieved there is very little snow in the forecast for the weekend.
Don’t get me wrong. I love snow. I love living in a place where there is real winter — but I think I wouldn’t mind some signs of spring right about now…

Just because I can't think of anything interesting to type here as an excuse to share these trees doesn't mean I'm not going to share these trees. Because they brightened up my day and maybe they'll brighten up someone else's day too.
