Microsoft asks customers for feedback on reported SSD failures, says it is aware of reports that installing the Windows 11 KB5063878 security update is causing SSD and HDD data corruption and failure issues.
This issue was first reported last week by a Japanese PC builder who saw SSDs disappear from the OS during heavy write operations (like writing large files or many files at once) to drives that were over 60% full on devices
Other users have encountered the same issue on systems with Corsair Force MP600, Maxio SSD, SanDisk Extreme Pro, Kioxia Exceria Plus G4, Kioxia M.2, and various other drives with Phison and InnoGrit controllers.

Ugh - I come back to the world of Windows software once a year or so, and I'm continually reminded of why I'm glad I don't have to use it anymore.
Favourite just re-experienced: download big-name proprietary app from vendor's website. Install. Start. Am immediately told "there's a newer version, want to update?".
It's like, just put "update link on website" as a step in your software release process, you numbskulls!

Put Linux on Windows, they said... it'll be fun, they said...
Meanwhile, I have a stuck WSL process and nothing will kill it... even task manager won't kill it!
And in Microsoft's infinite wisdom, a "kill" utility exists, but it doesn't ship default! Why?!
I really don't want to reboot just to kill a single process... Windows sucks!

CW: Windows Update Venting
Ok, so until my current job it had been close to 20 years I think since running a windows machine and currently work has a windows 10 system, which independently I can update apps, however I will never understand why the updates self pause or just stop without error or info. #windows #windowsfail
