Switching over to the latest #StarfieldBeta now
Aside: somehow by the end of the #VanguardFaction questline on my #Scarfield playthrough I managed to be so OP I was running around the wilds of Toliman II gun-bashing terrormorphs, other random xenos, and pirates to death, mostly one-hit kills—yes, even the two obnoxious avian-analogues. The Crimson Fleet I ran into at a POI were well above my player level, too, 3x on average, and oh sure they at least put up a fight and kept lighting me on fire, yet I barely took any damage. So clearly I need a new level of challenge, blowing up #Starfield itself over and over by testing mods on the beta release. This should prove to be a true living nightmare.

And damn did she ever make that Siren her bitch; the thing fuckin’ whimpered!—y’know, ever so briefly, before the sound of its skull collapsing echoed over the hills of Niira louder than the roaring thunder and sizzling downpour of acid rain.
(Really gotta hand it to the audio engineers, that was GROTESQUE and so bloody visceral; it could easily have become overdone, ghoullish, and a bit campy, but nope, they hit the nail on the head)

Last night in #Starfield after saving New Atlantis from a cadre of freaky mind-control terrormorphs, having my UC citizenship fasttracked, and meeting the infamous Vae Victis secreted away in the sterile vault so aptly named Subsection Seven, Andreja and I left off on the landing pad of our ultimate honeymoon destination: the “ground zero of xenoweapon deployment” itself—Niira!
“All in a day’s work, Sergeant,” I said.
“Like hell it is!” Yumi becried.
Be kind to Sergeant Yumi. He clearly doesn’t have anyone like Andreja by his side, driving him to rise to every occasion, to transcend the impenetrable walls of the multiverse to find, come to know, and fall in love with every parallel incarnation of her, let alone friends like Hadrian who thrive in the face of adversity in every parallel universe. Sure he’s got Sarah, and she’s just as badass. Problem is she tends to infantilize men, which is only a non-issue for men fully self-assured in their own hearts already.
(But I’m hesitant to start playing Starfield today though, at least until after I’ve finished my meatspace tasks and chores, ‘cause goddamn, it takes over your life completely and is nearly impossible to walk away from once you start… it’s too damn engaging, too easy to fully identify with the player character, and lose yourself in the narrative.)

Weirdly, Universe Nine’s Tau Ceti terrormorph ignored Andreja and I completely, making a bee-line for Hadrian, forcing me to draw it out of the control room (which it did) and try to lure it into a kill lane (which it was having none of), so in the end I had to engage it directly anyway, but since it decided to be clever I beat it to death with the butt-end of my particle beam rifle, Manifest Destiny Mk.4.
(Boy, there are so many layers to that and yet they all say the same bloody thing)

Damn that was some serious PTSD-Rage piloting. Took out all six tiers in record time, no restarts, no cheating—as in, I used the Debug Tools like I was supposed to for the resourcefulness score, but didn’t hack the terminal.
Even managed to keep my ally ship from the debug tools in the fight until the very end of Tier 6—I think it was the second-last enemy ship that splashed them.

I’ve only stuck around the “Va’ruun Zealot Andreja” universe instead of speedrunning the fuck outta here in order to focus all my efforts on hunting Terrormorphs, and by god I’m sure noticing just how many hoops there are to jump through to get to Londinion, in a universe that has lost all other value for me.
So you’re damn right I’m building an outpost on Toliman II as a Terrormorph Hunting Lodge. Can’t let the Aceles have all the fun.
Or who knows. Maybe I’ll use this universe to test out the microbe strategy for exterminating the Terrormorphs. It’s bound to go wrong in so many ways… fingers crossed for a microbe-resistant Super-Terrormorph mutation!
Also, #ProTip 1: xenofauna of Toliman II are the richest sources of AGM I’ve found in the entire Settled Systems. As a key ingredient of all those special #Starborn chems, hunting here makes harvesting AGM far less tedious.
#ProTip 2: by combining Gravity Well with Create Vacuum #StarbornPowers you can kill a Terrormorph without firing a single shot. But be real careful not to snag friendlies in the Gravity Well in the process—some will turn against you, sone will cause a whole faction to turn against you. The Gravity Well isn’t just a trap, like the Singularity biotic power in Mass Effect, it literally crushes the life out of the trapped subjects.

All Hadrian’s kill-lane turrets were accomplishing was to piss it off—negligible damage to armor, no actual health damage. So I did exactly what she told me not to: I engaged it directly. Didn’t even need to use a single #Starborn power. I just kept dancing and pew-pew-pew’d it to death.
And it was glorious.
