The best part of my first #Terrormorph #RedMile run was at the very end, when the last surviving ‘morph managed to bust their way out of the crater and into the bar, through to the spaceport
Instead of having to endure the implicit egotism of celebrating my truly epic victory, which let’s face it was the stuff of goddamned legends, I got to spring right back into action to rescue all the patrons, all the staff, even all the Ecliptic mercenaries hired as security from ONE lonesome, chicken-shit little Terrormorph Elder… that was running for its life from me in the first place.
Things didn’t quite go as planned. On the bright side, Andreja was only too happy to help me massacre EVERYONE.
It’s almost unbelievable how every other scene in #Scarfield ends this exact way: with a bloody insane pile of naked bodies.

It took some non-trivial fiddling (all morning!) BUTTTTT (drumroll please)
I got #Scarfield #OceansOfBlood working on the latest #Starfield! No more tacky and pathetic #RedMileMaulers or better-by-far #BloodyMaulers as in the main Scarfield release (that are as vicious and cunning as one has a right to expect of space-wolves). But an all #Terrormorph #RedMile run! And the strategic combat difficulty system started working correctly again too!
Sadly the obnoxious levelling-up fanfare kept clobbering the glorious #PopcornTime combat score. God damn. I gained 58 levels in a single run.
But otherwise, it was fan-fucking-tastic. What #TheRedMile should’ve always been from the beginning.

Round Two on the #Scarfield #RedMile
Still no #Terrormorph but my final kill count was 120 Bloody Maulers.
Yessss I admit I went back for second, third, and then fourth helpings. Scarfield’s Bloody Maulers are much more formidable foes than #VanillaStarfield’s Red Mile Mauler, but that only serves to increase the bloodlust. I didn’t want to finish the run until I was certain I’d hunted down every last one of them.
The total number, pack size, and downright viciousness of the Bloody Maulers seems to increase each run, too. So hell. I won’t get bored with the Red Mile in THIS playthrough.

Second run of #TheRedMile in Universe Eleven complete, Peashooter Mk.4 FTW!
Honestly? It went surprisingly well considering it takes an average of three magazines to put down a single Mauler with an Advanced Razorback and its painfully slow firing rate, irregardless of a Mauler’s level. Not exaggerating in the slightest: reloading is faster than the time between rounds of the same magazine. Still, I burned through almost 400 7.5mm rounds in this run, and I have pretty good trigger discipline. While I didn’t go hunting for any scattered packs of Maulers like I usually do, and had to let a few get away, I still put down an awful lot of them with such an ill-suited sidearm bee-lining from point A to point B and back again.

“Twiddling my thumbs until the new update goes live tonight” looks like running #TheRedMile over and over again with a variety of custom revolvers and pistols, keeping in mind that at Level 211 I still haven’t bothered to learn the Pistols skill, so I’m at an extra disadvantage.
Up first and featured below, for my 2nd run in Universe Eleven, is Peashooter Mk.4—my standard recipe for a heavily, but not quite fully, modded short-barrelled Assassin’s Advanced Razorback. It features the highest stopping power of any ballistic pistol available, but the smallest magazine size, meaning constant interrupted reloads by Maulers and their obnoxious explosive-hairball attack.
If this doesn’t make for a real challenge I don’t know what will.

CW: Starfield: Running the Red Mile with Advanced Afflictions
I’m pleased to report that on Extreme difficulty, with all the extra settings jacked up for maximum bonus XP, running #TheRedMile is finally a challenge and HAS TO BE RUN to survive.
Oh sure, the Maulers are still pathetic little cowards that only know how to fight dirty, running away crying tails between their legs when forced into a direct face to face confrontation, and can’t get away with surrounding you and attacking strictly from behind. I just beat The Red Mile for the fifth time in Universe Ten with nothing but my trusty Va’ruun Painblade—not even my Starborn Powers. I hunted as many of them down as I could but ran out of time.
See, the challenge now is environmental damage and afflictions, with health items only treating afflictions not curing them, and cumulative environmental damage no longer recovering once reaching safety. So you’re on a pretty strict time limit and every Mauler ambush is an actual honest-to-God indirect threat to life—if the Maulers can’r manage to kill you with all their cowardly wiles and your significantly reduced health, they actually make a point to waste as much of your time as able in hopes the weather will get you in the end. Like wow. Full-out machiavellian tactics.
The constant pair of afflictions running the Red Mike alongside you start to finish no matter what you do, are Frostbite and Hypothermia. There’s also plenty of toxic gas to give you serious lung damage, in a high-G environment, where you really, really need your full oxygen supply. Hypothermia screws with that too. And if you run out of treatment supplies, the afflictions worsen and can lead to secondary infections, which come with a whole other host of problems.
So yeah, oh sure. I just finished my fifth run for this universe but I’ve been in the red the last four times. Vision gets all blurry and pulsates. Could only barely see or hear Mei when collecting my prizes. Had to rent a room at the Mile BY THE WEEK to sleep off the environmental damage, because I wouldn’t survive the walk to my ship and fast travel is now disabled under certain health conditions.
Finally! It finally feels like a fight to the death! Only, the wildlife are simply distractions and the real enemy is yourself in a truly brutal survival situation.
As Andreja likes to put it, “now we are having fun!”

13th Run: Victorious 🤘🏻
Definitely the most brutal and gruelling run yet, and not only because of the ridiculous choice of weapon. I stuck with the Rescue Axe the whole way through.
The difficulty of the run has gone up in some obvious ways—packs of three Maulers have gone up to four or five, and the final ambush was six Level 94 Maulers.
The sheer mayhem of it…

Wow the Rescue Axe is a truly ridiculous weapon for taking on Maulers
IT TAKES FOREVER
So the only effective strategy I’ve found so far is to bait them into surrounding me, using a single power attack against them all, and then giving each of them another slice of the blade in turn as they’re staggered
Meanwhile, they’re batting me around like a rag doll and coughing up those explosive toxic hairballs, so I’m boostpacking back and forth over and around them until I find an opportune strike point. But gravity is 2.01 G on Porrima III, so I’ve got seconds to find my in and take it
Anyway. I wanted a fair fight against the Maulers. And I got a fair fight.
PS: I haven’t taken any of the melee weapon super-skills yet, so this is just me with an axe and no bonus modifiers.

Y’know. IFF the Rescue Axe can’t even penetrate the Mauler’s hide and I get backed in a corner by 5 of them. They hate being shot in the face.
Either way. This is going to be hilarious.

6th run complete! That ambush of five Maulers on the approach to the elevator got a little hairy, but then the last one standing tried to make a break for it so I had to chase them down and finish them off—naturally, their death-whimper was extra horrific
Anyway. I can now honestly say that the Va’ruun Painblade is a surprisingly effective weapon—even though I still haven’t figured out how to get Power Attacks working
I wonder what my prize will be this time??

Made it to the beacon on my 6th run
I can take on two Level 94 Maulers with the Va’ruun Painblade at the same time, no problem, but three is a bit of a challenge—had to boostpack out of that fast and take them on one by one as they turned and charged me

Running #TheRedMile is probably the best source of income in the Settled Systems once the Constellation board stops generating new missions, and a lot less time consuming than looting and pillaging Spacer, Crimson Fleet, Ecliptic, and Va’ruun Zealot bases
#TrackerAlliance missions are barely worth the time and effort required to complete them, and I only take them for the looting and pillaging opportunities between other missions

I’m climbing up the leaderboard, slowly but surely. But damn does Mei award the best prizes. On top of the 8000 credits and hefty haul of medical supplies, this time I scored a Professional’s Advanced Magsniper.
I suppose for my 6th run I should do something really ridiculous like use nothing but a Va’ruun Painblade? That’s a truly stupid and ineffectual weapon against a Mauler. The only way I’ll win it is to be quicker on my toes than they are with that tail swing.

Looks like “War Crime” is an effective choice of weapon. Even though a shotgun forces me to get up close and personal with the Maulers, my flechette rounds slice right through them.

This is… ahem… immediately after I saved the place from a whole herd of Maulers jumping the wall at the spaceport and attacking. What the hell was that about?

Okay. Running #TheRedMile with nothing but a pistol definitely gets the blood pumping. Even had one close call where a pack of Maulers tried to surround me. I dropped the first two with one clip, but the third got pretty damn close as I was reloading.
Anyway. Attached below is the compulsory victory-selfie with Mei.
It’s sure gonna take a while to break the top five.
