Reflections on #UKRN open research indicators work so far… https://www.ukrn.org/2023/12/15/reflections-on-ukrn-open-research-indicators-work-so-far/
"there appears to be a strong case for the academic sector to reflect on the opportunities and risks of sourcing indicators relating to its core business from third parties ... in Europe there are also strong signals from some very significant institutions such as #Sorbonne and #UtrechtUniversity. Could the academic sector be about to take more control over the ways in which its research is monitored?"

UK research needs to open up to keep up https://www.researchprofessionalnews.com/rr-news-uk-views-of-the-uk-2023-11-uk-research-needs-to-open-up-to-keep-up/
"National reputation depends on joining the global push towards transparency, says Neil Jacobs
Policy on open research is moving quickly, in many directions, in many different places. The details are complex but the trend towards greater transparency is clear. UK universities and researchers need to keep up, and in some cases catch up."

Top behaviour from the (male) chair of our #UKRN meeting just now. After a call for volunteers he wouldn't move on until a man had volunteered as well, saying this was needed to address gender imbalance in volunteering (i.e. in often uncredited and unrewarded work)

@Retropz "In total, she has contributed to nearly 500 pages of reports and a number of articles on the topic, but most of the recommendations she and colleagues made have gone unheeded."
I'm in a meeting about culture change tomorrow, run by folks deeply embedded and successful in the prevailing culture. Thinking of ways I can give them a hard time (charmingly?) #UKRN
