2026 looks to have been gorgeous, but with the heavenly beads of light on the mind and with me having been unable to go to Europe this year, the mind turns toward 2017, when the sunlight was particularly beautiful as it was "Shining Through the Valleys" of the Moon. Captured by me in Kentucky.

I’m in Spain. I came here to see the solar eclipse that happened yesterday. It was absolutely one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen in my life.
Suddenly, it got dark and cold everywhere. The wind picked up. For a moment, you felt very small, and there was this strange sense of… awe, almost even fear. And that’s despite the fact that I understand the science behind a solar eclipse.So if I, a person living in the 21st century, can feel something like that, I can only imagine what ancient people must have felt when they saw the Sun suddenly disappear from the sky.
It was an absolutely incredible experience, and I would recommend it to everyone if you ever get the chance to see one.
I’m attaching a photo showing the Sun’s corona and the very first ray of sunlight appearing from behind the Moon.

#SolarEclipse2026😎 #TotalSolarEclipse⚫️ is over. I have to ask since this eclipse coincides with the annual August 12 peak of the #Perseids meteor shower... Did anyone see meteors during totality? It's a long shot because totality only dims to civil or nautical twilight. So only the bigger meteors would be visible. But it's possible. At 100 meteors/hour, maybe 1-2 during 2 minutes of totality.
