The transition from light to dark is a powerful reminder of life’s cycles, encouraging us to pause, cherish the memories of the day, and embrace the potential that lies ahead.

Capturing a Green Turtle’s Graceful Approach
It was our first dive of the morning, and the soft glow of sunlight filtered through the surface of the water. Although a recent storm had stirred up the currents and clouded our view, we could still see several turtles gliding around the reef from a distance. The gentle sway of the ocean around us felt comforting, and there was an undeniable sense of excitement as we prepared for a closer look.
Suddenly, one of the turtles resting on top of the reef decided to swim toward me. I was not expecting such a personal encounter, but it moved with calm determination, cutting through the hazy water until it was nearly within reach of my camera. In that moment, my concerns about visibility vanished, replaced by a profound appreciation for this graceful creature choosing to share a brief, magical moment with me.
Scientific (taxonomic) classification:

- Class: Reptilia
- Order: Testudines
- Family: Cheloniidae
- Genus: Chelonia

@queerde Kann ich auch empfehlen, wenn man in die Region reisen aber homophobe Länder meiden will. Auf Sint Maarten kann man übrigens auch gut Taxi nehmen statt Mietauto - oder die viel günstigeren Busse auf der niederl Seite. Und wenigstens auf den Pic Paradis sollte man laufen.:blobcatwink:
Noch schöner sind #Saba und St Eustacius / #Statia. Allerdings nicht für Bade- und Partytouristen, sondern fürs Wandern oder Tauchen und wenn man etwas abgeschiedeneres außerhalb des Touri-Trubels sucht.

Ziegen und traf man überall, auch verwildert in den hintersten Ecken der Wälder oder im Kraterwald. An wildem Tierleben sah man vor allem Leguane, Geckos, Schlangen, Spinnen mit erstaunlich festen Netzen, Einsiedlerkrebse sowie ein paar große Raupen und Hundertfüßer. Für Menschen alle ungefährlich.

Hier auf #Statia sieht man immer noch an einigen Ecken #Weihnachtsdeko stehen. Die sieht hier allerdings etwas ungewohnt aus.

Heute eine Wanderung entlang des Fußes des Quill auf #Statia, zu den Ruinen der Plantage English Quarter und dann zu Fort de Windt. Das trägt seinen Namen zu Recht und bietet eine tolle Aussicht auf die Nachbarinsel #SaintKitts.

Außerdem: Relikte jüdischen Lebens auf der Insel #Statia. Die Gemeinde bestand bis Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts.

Heute Überfahrt mit der Fähre von #Philipsburg #SintMaarten #StMartin nach Sint Eustatius #Statia. Mit kurzem Stop bei #Saba. An die Schaukelei hab ich mich irgendwann doch gewöhnt.
