The Namgis #FirstPeoples use their big house for cultural #community events. #T̓sasała #Cultural Group uses the big house for sharing cultural teachings, songs & dances.
"You will see the next generation of #Kwakwa̱k̕a̱wakw sharing our culture to educate the world about our ancient songs, dances, teachings and values. These teachings are still being passed on today to the children of T'sasała.
You will witness the dances of the T̕seka, our red cedar bark ceremony. You will see the traditional dances that connect us to the land, sky, and sea. Raizada (Editor) and talented graduate students including from the #FirstNations and #Metis communities. The mission of the Encyclopedia is to share the rich food and agriculture history of the First Nations, Metis and #Inuit peoples of Canada. The #Encyclopedia is written in plain language and targeted at primary and high school students as well as the general public. Editing of the Encyclopedia remains in progress; however, the site has been published to allow early access.

Ontario's top court has upheld a lower court's ruling that a strip of #SaubleBeach, a popular Ontario tourist spot, has always belonged to a local #FirstNation.
In a 121-page decision on Monday, the Ontario Court of Appeal dismissed appeals brought by the Municipality of South #BrucePeninsula, the Ontario government, and several local families to the April 2023 ruling by Superior Court Justice Susan Vella.
"Justice was done today," said Saugeen First Nation Chief Conrad Ritchie in a statement, calling it a "powerful moment" for the Saugeen community.
In her 2023 decision, Vella ruled that "Chi-Cmiinh," a roughly two-kilometre strip of beach at the northern end of Saugeen Reserve No. 29, had always belonged to Chippewas of Saugeen First Nation, and that the federal government breached its treaty rights.
The Crown, Vella wrote, failed to protect and preserve the #treaty it signed in 1854, Treaty 72, in which the First Nation and neighbouring #Chippewas of Nawash surrendered Saugeen Peninsula, excluding five #Indigenous reserve territories. One would become #ReserveNo29.

More than 50 members of an uncontacted #IndigenousTribe have been photographed on a riverbank in the remote #Peruvian #Amazon near an area where #logging companies have been granted concessions by the country's government.
The large group from the #MashcoPiro appeared in recent days near the southeastern village of #MonteSalvado, which belongs to the #Yine people. A smaller group of 17 appeared near a neighboring village.
The Yine, who speak a language related to that of the Mashco Piro, have previously reported that the #UncontactedTribe has been angry about the presence of #loggers on their land, according to the #IndigenousRights group #SurvivalInternational.
“This is irrefutable evidence that many Mashco Piro live in this area, which the government has not only failed to protect, but actually sold off to logging companies,” Alfredo Vargas Pio, president of the local Indigenous rights group #FENAMAD, said in a statement from Survival International.
