STACK and #MecLib
The MecLib library allows the creation of #Moodle #STACK #maths related questions with Graphics without having to write any #Javascript. It uses the JSXGraph library that comes bundled with #STACKmaths and the output can be customised purely within the casmaxima of the questionvariables field.

Delighted to meet up with the creator of the STACK question type Professor Chris Sangwyn at the second day of the International Meeting of the STACK community at Durham university.
I am particularly excited by the addition of a STACK question library that is accessible from within the question editing interface. This allows a teacher to bring in a basic template question as a new question and then tweak it to suit their own purposes.

STACK Webinar video
The video from my #Moodle Academy webinar on #maths education using the #STACK question type. I do get quite excited during the presentation. I can make all sample questions available on request. I amused myself again when I heard me mention what I would do if I were/was independently wealthy.

Yesterdays STACK Maths seminar
The STACK webinar for the #Moodle Academy yesterday went well. One of the things that came from it was an interest in the freely available banks of questions that ship with it in Moodle mbz backup files. These are from the HELM project (Helping Engineers Learn Maths?) and cover a very wide range of concepts you can get instant student access to a course with the contents from here.

I am doing a webinar tomorrow on "Maths Education with the #Moodle STACK Question Type"
https://moodle.academy/calendar/view.php?view=day&course=1&time=1743494400#event_26872I had made a short video to promote it but my colleague at @catalysteu took the mp4 and tightened it up rather nicely
This is the service we offer (but its all #GPL)

I have been using the #Moodle #STACK #maths related question intensely over the last few months. I had idly thought that it would be good to have an automated way of giving inputs and prts “sensible names”, i.e. instead of ans1, ans2 etc I could rename the input fields with things like width, area and have all references updated appropriately.
It turns out that the feature already exists under the menu Tidy inputs and PRT’s, wonderful!

#Maths #Education with the #Moodle #STACK Question Type
You can book your spot to attend the seminar on 1st April 2025 here
https://moodle.academy/calendar/view.php?view=day&course=1&time=1743494400#event_26872The STACK question type is the most powerful and flexible maths related question available for any platform. With that power comes some complexity and this webinar I will address how it can be used by non experts. We will be showing ways of simplifying the question editing process and sharing resources.

The #Moodle #STACK #maths question type comes bundled with a copy of the jsxGraph #Javascript library. This allows the creation of graphical questions including where the student can respond by dragging points.

I am extraordinarily fortunate to work with #Moodle in my job for @catalysteu I am additionally fortunate to have been working on the #STACK #maths #question type for much of the last year. #math is too important to be left just to #mathematicians
I have collaborated on a blog post that covers STACK and our STACK hosting service which you can read here.
Moodle and the STACK software are available under the #GPL license.

The company I work for, @catalyst-eu has announced our
#Moodle #STACK hosting service. I have been a fan of STACK for more than 10 years and I am excited that we have this offering.Moodle and STACK are licensed under the #GPL and this is a service to make it easy to set up, run and create #quizzes that cover almost any area of #Maths imaginable. #Math is not just for #Mathematicians

This animation shows a #Moodle quiz using the #STACK #Maths question type on a #MoodleBox . The #GoeMaxima back end is running under docker on the same machine which is a #RaspberryPi 5 with 8GB of ram.

The Question Library feature of the #GPL #Moodle #STACK #maths #question type could be an idea for other question types. It makes over 600 template questions available for import within the question editing interface. #Math is taught in so many subjects, it should't just be left to the #mathematicians
I made a Youtube video showing this
https://youtu.be/9HNMuLMWkUMNote the graphical question in the video is one I created.

A new version of the #Moodle #STACK #maths question type has been released, version 4.8.1.
https://github.com/maths/moodle-qtype_stack
The major features are support for the mobile app and a new “STACK question library” which distributes questions with the source code. Because STACk is complex (and very powerful) this should give people a head start when authoring questions.I have been working with STACK solidly for several months now and its power and flexibility are amazing.

The #GPL licensed #STACK system is the most powerful #Maths question type available & is backed by the the #Maxima CAS System. Although it requires #Moodle, Moodle can deliver it to any #LTI compliant VLE (e.g. #Blackboard and #Canvas).
STACK comes with with over 1,000 #mathematics questions, from the #HELM project. These range from the absolute basics to advanced Maths.
You can create an instant student account and attempt some of the quizzes here
