I was honoured to be able to include a piece of work from the book by Mark Oatis (pictured) in the latest issue of BLAG (https://bl.ag/09).
His Prismatic Letters panel is based on the work of one of the Speedball founders, Ross F. George, with additional inspiration from the art of J.C. Leyendecker.

Marvel on the reverse-contrast lettering common in their comics (and also found in others): “Most Marvel comic books use all-uppercase text for word balloons and captions. VCJustinSays is designed to resemble [Chris] Eliopoulos’s hand-lettering style, with thick horizontal and thin vertical strokes that he achieved by shaving a Hunt 107 pen into a wedge shape.”
