I first watched #SpaceOdyssey 2001 as a kid on VHS with my cousin. I had suggested this might be as exciting as Star Wars.
He is — after all these years — still giving me a bit of a strange look whenever #scifi is mentioned…

On the one hand, I feel like kind of an idiot for absentmindedly neglecting to read this
book at any time over the past decades. On the other: what delightful surprise to find this week.

I'm now curious to watch what my reactions will be when I re-watch Kubrick's version.
Richer? Poorer? We shall see....

I'm just glad this book has waited so patiently for me until now.

Finally saw 2001: A Space Odyssey
Here’s my synopsis:

Part 1: Ape men shouting. so much shouting

Part 2: the part everyone remembers with iconic space travel shots and HAL, which could’ve been a kick-ass movie

Part 3: Let’s experience what it’s like to do LSD, probably! Woohooo!

My review: a whole HOUR could’ve been edited out of this movie for PACING reasons, and nothing would’ve been lost.
