Interesting to see how this same effect is playing out in the English local elections and Scottish/Welsh national elections this May. Increasingly, the idea of any election being seen through and island-wide prism seems fraught with difficulty as the national polities diverge. #Senedd26 #Holyrood26

Our Newport Green Party action day went well. Ten brave volunteers set off in pouring rain to leaflet Shaftesbury ward. We were joined by Young Greens,Gwent Party members and local Newport vols. Also David Mayer our Malpas Ward councillor.
Afterwards we met at Sip in Newport market for a hot drink and debrief. A great chance to get to know each other better.Altogether a good day

Suffice it to say that UK Govt is clearly signalling a big fat “no” in its response to all from this from the FM, which further undermines her credibility inside the party and with the public. If a Plaid/Green FM had similar rejection, it would actually strengthen their argument. #Wales #Senedd26

BBC Charter renewal is more important for #Wales than any other British country. It’s incredible that it is happening without a mobilised civil society effort to ensure that the unique provision of news, sport, art, and entertainment across BBC Wales/Cymru/S4C thrives post -2027. #Senedd26

Irrespective of whether the kind of parochial nationalism of the new model and its livery tickles your fancy or not, the one amendment that this Rail Bill needs is to fully devolve the rail network and Barnettised funding to Wales, as in Scotland. Wales ought not be punished again #Senedd26

It sounds mad to acknowledge this but we’re seeing the most successful party in the democratic world crumble. Welsh Labour have won every domestic election for 103 years and are now slumping to a distant 3rd in FPTP and close to the threshold of not winning *any* Caerphilly-esque seats in #Senedd26

As so many Senedd elections have essentially been under the radar of many citizens (and as the institution had so little actual power for the first decade), the parties rarely face pressure to include issues in their manifestos. Interesting to see local/regional voices begin to campaign 👇 #Senedd26
