The body of Syrian activist Mazen Hamada was found in a military hospital near #Sednaya

Mazen did not make it to see the downfall of Assad by just a few days. His body bore signs of torture.

Originally from Deir ez-Zor, he was arrested and tortured several times after 2011 before fleeing to Europe where he got asylum. In 2020, he returned to #Syria after his family was threatened and was arrested again.

Huge crowds bid farewell to him in Damascus today.

Al Jazeera Arabic correspondent Omar Alhourani found a mass grave that is believed to be the place where political prisoners who were killed in #Sednaya would be buried.

He says in the report below the place is likely 5000 sq m and it is just row after row of mass graves.

In one place, a grave was uncovered and bodies wrapped in white body bags and numbers written on them can be seen.
