  1. Making a Mountain

Awhile back, I stumbled across a Mel the Terrain Tutor video that shared a technique for using plaster bandages and spackle to make quite decent looking hill terrain. It's a cool technique and I had some leftover packaging that had the potential to become something cool, so I decided to give it a try. I started by cutting out some MDF bases and using a sander to add a simple bevel to the edges. I made sure I had a larger piece of MDF to use with a bit of packaging I had lying around looked […]

  3. I had a lot of fun scratch building with this one. I even made a little 1-to-2 cable splitter. 😄 The guitar cables are actually small wires which was perfect to use. It gives life to the scene. #Nerdlings #MiniaturePainting #ScratchBuilding

  5. Call me a mechhead 🤷 there's something very cool about stacking toolings to achieve just the right setup on the mill. The primary hull will sit in this setup for many operations. By turning the rotary table, the entire hull turns on its long axis, giving precise radial control

  6. Some very manual operations before we can get fully set up to start operations on the primary hull:

  7. After a few different operations on the mill with the tilt-table, cargo hull’s rough geometry is pretty much done

  8. I'll be hand-building the skip vanes out of Evergreen dimensional styrene extrusions. Here are my plans:

  9. The first 3 photos show an aluminum knuckle that will attach to the central spar internal to the main hull to reinforce the attachment of the skip vanes. Because the 3 skip vanes are long & heavy, without this reinforcement they will damage the soft sign foam or droop over time

Last photo is the cargo hull

  10. These are the fore and aft cowlings for the main airlock and gravity drive, respectively. After turning the aft cowling on the lathe, I transferred it to the mill where with the help of the rotary table, I added the three radial notches where the skip-vanes will attach

  11. I'll be selling my #books in person in September, so I’m #scratchBuilding a #scaleModel of the hero ship “Common Law” from my 3rd #novel Common Accord

Kollegen haben nicht so ganz verstanden, was ich damit will, aber die kennen mich einfach noch nicht gut genug. XD
