I'm glad the work is underway and we get to see it. But my enthusiasm for this anniversary is so different than 1976. I'm not enjoying the shredding of the Constitution and the attacks on our neighbors in this round.

So I was looking up Stephen Hopkins, as I don't know #RhodeIsland history as well.
I found this on his grave and enjoyed knowing about it.
“Here lies the man in fateful hour,
Who boldly stemm’d tyrannic pow’r,
And held his hand in the decree,

I spent part of yesterday assessing the lace in the #RhodeIsland Historical Society collection on a baby cap reported to belong to a signer of the Declaration of Independence, Stephen Hopkins.
Look at the cartridge pleats on this teeny cap!

#WIPWednesday I was about to say that I just cleared off the pillow for our upcoming lace retreat--we are doing "early lace" samplers and I'm psyched for that.
But I do, of course, have more pillows... And this one is the one I use to demonstrate Ipswich lace. Our lace group is doing a Revolution 250 event in Sudbury MA on the town common this weekend.

Just got a newsletter from the Old North Church and it links to an article about the steeple falling in #HurricaneCarol 1954.
They found movie footage of it falling.

The issue has a #Rev250 theme. Another article is about Abigail Adams and the accompanying pattern is a needlepoint of her house and a phrase:

After a very hectic #Rev250 commitment schedule for April and May, I can finally get back to my own projects. I bought pre-tariff yarn for this, but it was waiting in the shadows....
For #WIPWednesday I have made my first "big" #BobbinLace. It's just a swatch now, I needed to feel how the yarn behaved. It's going to get bigger. I have a massive roller pillow to use for it.
It's a 300% sized #IpswichLace pattern.
