#ScribesAndMakers Day 18: Post an image (with alt text) of needlework you made or admire
An old cross stitch I did years ago called "I :underheart: Chocolate in any language" and had pictures of bears from China, France, Russia, the Netherlands and Greece, with "chocolate" in their languages"

When did you start doing embroidery? Do you have one project that is your absolute favorite?

All of my patterns (45+!) have been updated, so all stitches and symbols should be Pattern Keeper compatible!
I've given everything a little refresh and love in the process, because cross stitch is fun, and I want others to enjoy it with my patterns as well!Check them out over at https://katuend.etsy.com
If you have any problems with a pattern please let me know. The floss may not import, but all symbols shouldn't have a problem now! It's been a little labour of love for the past few weeks. I don't like making these self promo-y posts, but how else will people find me lol

@mem_somerville Your work's amazing! 🤩
And thanks for the website link. The latest blog post linked to a great article on needlework. I don't even do sewing or embroidery and I found it fascinating!

TIL #vyshyvanka is the traditional #embriodery of #Ukraine. i have been a bit obsessed with it. in #nyc you could find a lot of clothes with their distinct #redwork, but their needlework is in other colors, especially #blackwork.
btw: Palestinian’s #needlework is also incredible. #Tatreez is some of the most beautiful wearable art from the Middle East.
it guts me gringos want to destroy these two cultures; which have some of the oldest and most beautiful artisanal traditions.

Playing around with G'MIC. It has some interesting image processing effects that can make e.g. Hitomezashi stitching patterns

New video is up! 🪡
5 must-have supplies to start embroidery — and I promise it's not overwhelming.
I cover: fabric (Aida, cotton, linen & even denim!), thread brands I actually trust (DMC, Madeira, Anchor), how to pick the right hoop, needles explained simply, and why your scissors really matter.
Whether you're building your first kit or just curious — this one's for you.

🧵 People often ask me, how they could test, if they like #stitching without having learnt #embroidery. I recommend #intuitiveStitching, it's like #doodles with a needle and you see quick success. If you like it, you then can start to learn simple stitches. Just be wild and play like a child!
