So weekend plan had been two days at the #toomanygames convention followed by all-day #relicblade on Sunday, while my wife had a mother/daughter trip with my eldest daughter to Maine for orientation weekend. Earlier this week, my wife asked that I go to Maine with her. Once we figured out the logistics with my youngest and animals, I have changed my plans. As a husband and father, I am excited for the road trip. But inside me is an adolescent who is throwing a tantrum.

@NinjaDebugger agreed. Speedpaint metallics are the only metallics I use, except I have a pot of D3 Pig Iron that I use exclusively for my #relicblade Battle Pigs, because, well, you know.

@erikcats I feel your pain. There have been a few games that I did not pick up for lack of a local community. I am so thankful to live somewhere with a thriving #relicblade community. I think we had 7-8 last night.

A bit of luck this evening - one of the guys I play #relicblade with had a large amount of #oldhammer model kits in boxes and out he wanted to get off his hands. I didn’t feel up to any kits without instructions, so I just grabbed one of each type of metal blister pack. Plan is to get set up with an airbrush and practice on these. These are all circa 2000.

Another great night of #relicblade tonight. I saw someone say that a 2x2 board isn’t immersive but come on; just look at that. My opponent put down a spear trap, which taunted the destroyer pig all game. He wanted to slam so badly, but was blocked by the trap. The hounds were very resilient and kept the pigs from claiming the treasure on the bridge until the last turn, but the pigs were victorious !

Finally varnished and based my Battle Pigs for tomorrow night’s game. Someone said that, with the pigs, friendship is magic (because they benefit from staying together). I needed no other reason than to paint them in My Little Pony colors. Sort of an alternate universe where the friends want bloodshed and mayhem. I used almost all #thearmypainter speedpaints, except that I used P3’s Pig Iron for metallics because, well, you know. #relicblade #miniaturepainting

Hobby progress has been slow since Gabe’s passing. It isn’t easy glancing at his empty bed while I do things (even with my other greyhound at hand). I finally finished the two models I started before it happened, both #relicblade models, the Pack Yak and Cricket, described as the luckiest skeleton in the game. Used #thearmypainter speedpaints on everything other than metallics. I also made progress on my Battlepigs and built my first warhammer model (the codewright). Battletech tomorrow night!

Saturday was #relicblade all day. We ran a campaign at Redcap’s Corner to test some beta rules. We had a great time. I let my blade master get over extended twice, but I had the opportunity to test some rules and things I didn’t understand. It was a great time! #wargaming

I was getting a few looks from the wife as I lined my completed minis up in various places in the house. I have not found a good display solution but I did find this case on Amazon that I thought could cover my current minis. Metal trays, so I have been putting magnets in the bases. One 2mm holds the metal (25-28mm) models or plastic models nicely. I put 2-3 on the larger based models. Seems to hold nicely without requiring effort to remove from the tray. #miniatures #battletech #relicblade

@HipsterDM the market is amazing! And the diner sources all their food from the market. It is an amazing experience, even on a Sunday when all the Amish stands are closed. Redcap’s Corner, where I play #relicblade is in West Philly.

I am now all caught up on #relicblade. Weather should be good on Monday for laquering my top secret project. After that, next up is a troll for under my bridge. He needs a bit of green stuff before I can move forward. After that, I have a bunch of mechs ready for stage three of #SLAPCHOP (primed, dry brushed and ready for paint), but I am not sure what direction I want to go with them. #miniaturepainting

@bmac The set is sixteen one-foot squares. I only need four for #relicblade, but why leave the rest half done? I think #warmachine is played on a 4x4 board, which is what I was playing like 12 years ago when I kickstarted this.

The results of today's stream with Jamie Daggers! We each secretly came up with a limited palette of four colors for our Relicblade skellies, then swapped them! (And no black, white, or bone!) I had a ton of fun, and I forsee spending some time refining them.

More #relicblade with Bob, and sad to leave England but glad to be travelling home after @Thrudball.

Lovely tournament and I don't know if I'd have performed so well had I not invited all my opponents to come and sit outside with me. The main hall was noisy AF and that doesn't agree with burnout brain. The allowance my opponents cut me gave me a great weekend

Am very proud and thankful to have been a part of this tournament again.

Happy to end day one on 1/2/0!

The #charity #auction saw two items combined for a total of £2425 pounds. They were a painted 79 model #Muppets team with carry case and as its display the arches from the show's opening, and a stunning Wild Things team with a gorgeous custom display base, based on the book's island artwork.

Later on Bob taught Steven and me how to play #relicblade, which is a lovely but brutal game! Can recommend!
