Got to go to #historicon this weekend. Really fantastic convention with a focus on historical wargames but also has some fantastical stuff. There was an entire booth selling #ironwindmetals battletech stuff, and I found my new best friend, the Black Python. With #battletech night on Monday, it was a sprint to paint up the mech. #slapchop was used, although I did a zenithal with the airbrush instead of a drybrush. The plan is to do more highlights and touchups later.

/3 painting Grayson Carlyle’s marauder felt a bit like cheating with #thearmypainter #speedpaint Grey Death Legions colors are a gray camouflage. I did my usual #SLAPCHOP technique, then I covered the entire model with gravelord gray. After waiting to dry, I blotched on occultist cloak. Did my highlights (cockpits and metals) and that was it. If you find, for some reason, that you are in a hurry to paint a #battletech force, go Grey Death Legion. #miniaturepainting

Really surprised at how nice #thearmypainter #speedpaint Grim Black looks here. I didn’t think about the all black (with red trim) paint scheme for the mech, so I did the #SLAPCHOP method (prime black, hightlight grey then black) first. I figured it would look more grey, and I could fix it if necessary, but it definitely looks black. I did the weapons, grills and feet gravelord grey. Might still give it a black wash, but amazing how black it came out. #miniaturepainting

I am now all caught up on #relicblade. Weather should be good on Monday for laquering my top secret project. After that, next up is a troll for under my bridge. He needs a bit of green stuff before I can move forward. After that, I have a bunch of mechs ready for stage three of #SLAPCHOP (primed, dry brushed and ready for paint), but I am not sure what direction I want to go with them. #miniaturepainting

I thought I saw @HipsterDM ask what was #slapchop painting. It is https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grisaille Grisaille technique - putting the shading on the model first and the using a transparent paint (speedpaint) on top. Generally, prime black, drybrush grey and then white. After that, color goes on.

In the wake of my massive priming session I had a slightly quiet hobby week - but I finally got back to the painting table and finished my Imperial Navy Breachers Kill Team (bar the varnish coat). For these figures I used the "classic" #SlapChop approach - dry-brushing the highlights rather than airbrushing. I also tried out dry-brushed on the metallic armour and I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. Overall I think I prefer the airbrush approach though...
