Painting mechs for my nephew’s mercenary company. Will be my second run through of Scouring Sands. Such a good campaign in a box.

The new Techmanual is going to be interesting. Alpha Strike and Battlefield Support conversion rules, gothic abominations, maybe even technologies from other universes! Hopefully CGL won't change any of the mech or vehicle rules.
How attached is the #battletech fanbase to the current support vehicle rules? Would civilian cars be more usable if they were merged with mechanized infantry? Should mech infantry use battle armor sheets so each vehicle can be tracked separately? -
If I put a hero in a mobile headquarters (or even better a C3M) do the edge abilities apply only to the vehicle or can they somehow broadcast the ability over comms to an ally #battletech

What is up with individual infantrymen doing a fraction of a point of damage?
Missiles always do 1-2 damage each, so infantry launchers should do 1 damage. Not .34 damage, not .50 damage, a full point for each guy with a launcher
Rifles are for shooting people with. They shouldn't do anything at all against mechs except maybe a special rule about sniping the pilot if the mech's head armor is gone #battletech -

#August page of the 2026 fox plushy calendar.
We just came home from a community event full of board games and TTRPGs where we took some photos for next year's calendar.
This one is from CCON Comic Con Stuttgart a few years ago where some nice people tried to teach the foxes #Battletech. Rolling those tiny dice with paws is a bit hard but it was a lot of fun.

Crewmembers should be able to dismount to replace a wheel, also hits should be tracked separately for each wheel. There should also be a risk of interior fires for crews to fight or to give a reason to evacuate the vehicle; I want that one scene from Letter of the Law
Oh yeah there are also boats that sit on water tiles. Why do they not have compartments separated by blast doors to handle flooding #battletech -

How would you play a short 1 hour+ game of classic Battletech? I was thinking a single medium mech of the most explody low armor variants. Like the Vindicator 1AA or Shadow Hawk 2D. (Is there a list of firecracker mechs like these?)
Alternatively, slower Clan mediums, which have lots of firepower but not enough armor to absorb the punishment.

The gunnery controls on a warship looks kinda like a Missile Command arcade cabinent where you move the joystick to aim and press a button to fire but since space is 3d there are two joysticks to move and two screens to look at #battletech

Amaris destroys Kerensky's exodus fleet, the Grey Death Armada is crushed by the Canopian Raiders, the Davions relocate to Capellan space, the Lyrans run out of fuel for their industry, House Liao turns to lichdom while the Steiners become vampires, Comstar decides that they want to become reptile gods, and no one can stop them because the rebels and the mercenaries have all killed each other

Its weird absorbing Battletech lore mostly through short stories.
My actual knowledge of history is mostly Clan War from video games/vague memories, and IlClan from recent sourcebooks.
My knowledge of the timeline looks like:

Scouring Sands Sortie 11
A rough match. We stormed the enemy base, but our King Crab, Fire Moth, and Blackjack went down to do it. We also lost too foot points of local troops who bravely helped locate the enemy thumpers.
Great game.
Our mechs were salvageable, but two named pilots are wounded and will miss the next mission.
