Getting into #Battletech as a setting after playing the HBS game, So I've started reading the House Kurita sourcebook from way back.
I'm about 16 pages in and we haven't hit a recognizable political division or the creation of a battlemech yet.
1) am I going to have to go through the complete history of the formation of the great houses with every one of these source books?
2) Why did 80s writers seen to think they needed to outline all of history from the current year to the settings year?

I'm Tom Dowd, known for having co-created #Shadowrun and worked on the original #VampireTheMasquerade back in the day. I've also worked on #Earthdawn, #VillainsAndVigilantes, and some other things. On the computer side, I've done story work for #Shadowrun, #BattleTech, and #MechWarrior and was the lead designer on #MechAssault for XboxLive.
Currently at Columbia College Chicago and working on a personal #visualnovel forever. More to come!
