Gestern im @jungundaltspielt wurde es dann tatsächlich ein #DungeonCrawlClassics #dcc Trichter. Ich war als GM viel zu nett, von 18 Charakteren überlebten 13.
Aber es war im Finale kurz vorm Wipe. Wenn sie noch eine oder zwei Runde länger versucht hätten, die Terrakotta-Armee frontal anzugreifen, statt sich eine bessere Taktik auszudenken, wäre niemand aus dem Hügelgrab zurückgekehrt.

I was talking to someone this week about whether #DungeonCrawlClassics was a good system for #horror #TTRPG games.

It is if you like the #SamRaimi or #StuartGordon or #DanOBannon school of horror. #DCC favours an over-the-top, #gonzo style of play. If you enjoy #EvilDead or #FromBeyond #splatter #gore and #bodyhorror it works really well.

The #ReturnOfTheRipper #Kickstarter is done — I'm fulfilling the last reward, the #LimitedEdition Hardback version of the #book (6"×9", 319 pages, cloth binding with dust cover).

I'm doing my usual thing of running the first session on Friday finishing at midnight, then crashing in a cheap hotel in the centre of Birmingham for a few hours before getting back to the NEC for the second game at 09.00 the next morning. This way I feel like I'm a character in a live-action Noir game.

Yesterday I played role-playing games with a bunch of strangers and it was fun!

A random post on Mastodon caught my attention (thanks hashtags!) and I signed up for the game.

Although I've played a lot of #RPG over the years, especially #rolemaster in the 90s and #DungeonWorld in the 2000s, I haven't played much in the last 10+ years.

This was a great way to get back into it - no campaign pressure, no long character generation, just an old-fashioned bit of dungeon-crawling and monster-bashing with #DCCRPG and it's unusual dice system.

We played in a local social club - right alongside a bunch of old ladies playing bridge and asking us to keep it down.

Thanks again to @davej and Walter's Burly Griffins for the invite.
