Figured it's finally time to activate this account (and not post to that other service only), so the best way to start is with some #amateurradio hacking:

This #Graw DFM-17 #radiosonde has learned some new tricks and it chirps CW (morse) and Horus 4FSK modulations on the 70cm ham radio band. This is a work-in-progress port of my #RS41ng radiosonde firmware, as the DFM hardware is very similar to #Vaisala #RS41.

Next up is #APRS + testing, so soon you'll be able to repurpose your #DFM17 sondes!

Oooh, SNR ratio seems to be indicating my #auto_rx #radiosonde station is performing pretty well, where it can see this radiosonde. #hamradio #rtlsdr

I get a #telegram bot alert for each #radiosonde launch my station picks up.

The Villanova University ARC W3YP ground station is receiving telemetry 📡 from the KB3ZOX reflashed RS-41 radiosonde high altitude balloon 🎈 as it flies up the east coast.

A little email frequency coordination was needed to make sure everyone on 431.05 MHz!

This is one of the GPS trackers on the balloon. 🎈It transmits on the standard #APRS frequency of 144.39 MHz into a twin lead J-pole antenna. The Raspberry Pi Pico reads the BME280 (temperature, pressure, humidity, altitude) and MPU6050 (gyro and accelerometer) sensors. The transmitter is an SR_FRS_0V5 FM module that transmits 500 mW. The PCB is a #CubeSatSim Beta V2 board. The GPS is a LC76G with a dipole antenna.

Many are asking how they can be steered or controlled... Its about altitude and tracking.

See how it does a 180 turn... Its all about the upper atmosphere, jet stream that most TV host 'experts' seems to be clueless about.

Very clean decode of this afternoons #radiosonde flight out of #ksan (well, close enough).
The @airframes and @ADSBexchange orange dongles with their built in #LNA are working really well.
Note the lack of data gaps in the telemetry.
Im super happy with the #nodered dashboard code.
The key waw the #chatgpt inverse square law #javascript it wrote for me, still tweaking it, but its going well.

Here is my current #radiosonde setup. One SDR is 'missing' as it was installed/in use at the time of this photo, so this is the 4 #SDR upgrade that we did a few weeks back.
Just want to test the orange dongles with their inbuilt LNAs to scratch an itch.
Don't need the gain really and most times, more gain is always worse.
I have 3 of the new #nooelec v5's coming soon. They will be the real test.
