We got a reprogrammed RS-41 radiosonde working with our ground station today:

A different one failed to be received on our last weather balloon launch by the #Villanova #CubeSat Club the other week.

nächtliche Ballonlandung in der Homezone (ca. 4km Luftline vom Space). Stapfen durch das Unterholz, Bäumchen-Schütteln und Herumstochern mit diversen Angelgeräten, bis die Wettersonde geborgen war.

Sunday weather was clear and crispy. Perfect time to go out for a walk...
to collect some radiosondes to be repurposed! All 3 were located a 10-minute drive from each other, still fresh after landing less than a day before :)
Thanks FMI / Ilmatieteen Laitos.

Figured it's finally time to activate this account (and not post to that other service only), so the best way to start is with some #amateurradio hacking:
This #Graw DFM-17 #radiosonde has learned some new tricks and it chirps CW (morse) and Horus 4FSK modulations on the 70cm ham radio band. This is a work-in-progress port of my #RS41ng radiosonde firmware, as the DFM hardware is very similar to #Vaisala #RS41.
Next up is #APRS + testing, so soon you'll be able to repurpose your #DFM17 sondes!

Attached to a 2000g weather balloon will be suspended three payloads:
- A cross-band FM repeated that hams in the area can use to make contacts
- A repurposed #RS41 #radiosonde for tracking on amateur.sondehub.org
- A live video feedI’ll be listening with the #W3YP station but it is probably too far away from Philadelphia!
Good luck to the New England Sci-Tech and the Benjamin Franklin Classical Charter Public School!
