I dusted off and reflashed-upgraded my #meshtastic node for #hamvention. Flashed a spare to reticulum. Need to charge my vhf handset yet. Maybe listen to nets this week. #hamradio #amatuerradio
It's been a couple years since I dabbled with meshtastic. There are several more nodes I can reach now. Hoping #reticulum displace it though.

In the process of writing a #perl script to pull my most recent QSOs from #QRZ's #LogbookAPI and import them into a #hugo site, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to get recent ones without fetching the entire logbook.
The MAX option seemed to be the answer, but it's counting from the start; i.e. MAX=5 returns the *first *five QSOs in the logbook instead of the last 5.Anyone have a solution?

I'm planning to have a small transceiver hooked more or less directly up to an antenna, with a Raspberry PI also involved, to have a full packet radio TNC setup outdoors. Any suggestions for a good transceiver for this use case? :3 #AmatuerRadio #HamRadio #PacketRadio

Tomorrow heading out to the mountains to annoy some trout with my kids. I'll of course be packing my #x6200 and try to do some #amatuerRadio #hamradio #ParksOnTheAir from several possibilities. US-12159, US-4474 at a minimum but also possibly a 2fer or a 3fer with US-10419 and US-12232

I'm usually here for the #amatuerRadio content, but I think Legos aren't too far from our hobby. This is my first #lego set in 30yrs, a fact which might have blown my 10yr old son's brain. This is the winning boat from the 37th #AmericasCupSailing which is the #AC75 class of #hydrofoil flying sailboats #EmiratesNewZealand

For this week's #hamchallenge : My primary logging software is #Wavelog. The webserver and backend database both run on virtualized machines in a #HighAvailability #Proxmox #cluster (same one that hosts this instance!). Those are backed up daily to another machine on site via PBS, then those backups are synced to a remote server running in a house in another city.
In addition, my log is also synced to both #QRZ and #LOTW every 6 hours or so, but I didn't think it qualifies as a true backup, since there is some data which those logs don't record.

Finally found the charger for my #btech #DMR 6x2 and got the firmware updated to v2.20!
Unfortunately, my backup #codeplug image included everything except the TG list, for some reason. The result is that every channel is now broken until I can reassemble the TG list exactly as it was before.
Question is, do I try to just rebuild the TG list to salvage the existing codeplug, or should I just start over entirely from scratch? The previous codeplug was based on one I got from another ham years ago and I kept modifying over time; I'm not sure if all the repeaters are up to date, anyway, and it's honestly a bit of a mess at this point... On the other hand, building a new code plug is such a massive time sink and I haven't used the #radio in over a year anyway, is it even with the effort?
-
Whoa!
Talk about an unexpected surprise!
I've owned a #BTech DMR6X2 for a number of years, but after moving to an area without any #DMR repeaters, it's spent most of its time sitting in a box. As a half-duplex radio, I don't think it's going to replace my D72 for #satellite ops, but I'll certainly have to give it a try once I get this update installed.

Amateur radio operators, and/or those just listening around with SDRs, might want to keep an eye on the Hurricane Watch Net:
It's not active as of now, but worth checking.

I SOOO want to do something fun with #Radiograms. Sort of like what K8AMH does with his #NTSTrivia

I have been having so much fun sending #RadioGrams to people lately!

I got my kid one of these a few years ago before the pandemic ...she since then graduated to a Lenovo laptop.
It's an HP Stream 11 notebook with 2gb memory and 32 gb storage.
Rather than trashing it ,I repurposed it to run my SDRPlay RSP1A sdr radio. It has just enough memory to run it as a stand alone controller. So now I can use the SDRPlay software and scan the air band and the military air band as well as the usual culprits on 2m . It won't scan in Linux 😕

#AmatuerRadio and #chess! I thought this would be fun via #Radiogram .. but this might take a LONG time.

There's been so many good #AmatuerRadio #hamradio experiences away from the legacy club scene, over the past year or so.
One of those experiences is serving #RATPAC, or the Radio Amateur Training Planning and Activities Committee.
Find out more at https://www.ratpac.us/
Formed as a response to #covid, it has grown and developed into a vibrant center of activity.
There's reasons for this.
There's repercussions for bad behavior. It's diverse. Members listen to and respect each other.

So I just downloaded and installed the latest (2022) revision of something called #xnec2c
This is the evolution of the #ARRL Antenna Design/Simulation/Optimization software. The original was in fortran; this revision is in C and runs well with X on a linux desktop.
What a frigging mess, from an interface perspective. The documentation could use a bit of work as well.
Not to be terribly critical, just making this observation as a first impression.
This piece of work may have a long and storied history, and it may be taking on the patina of age; but one sure way to let your technology slide off into obscurity is to put your tools on a shelf and worship them instead of using and improving them over time.
Lets do a python version, with a proper modern UX, some help that does more than simply describe the software, but rather works as a living reference with a few simple wizards for the novice.

Since I am a bit isolated on my own node, I suppose it may help to post an #introduction.
I'm a #macOS professional and former #highered #MacAdmin now working for #JumpCloud.
Hobbies and interests are wide ranging, but a few are #Music and #HiFi (I'm a bit of an #audiophile). I also enjoy building out my #homelab, monitoring #amatuerRadio, many things #outdoors, as well as #wine, #cooking, #cigars, and #bourbon. 👋
