I just got my hands temporarily on a #weather #sonde, thanks to a very enthousiastic colleague showing it off.
This colleague had (in his own words) "Somehow only recently learned about #sondehub, I thought it was pretty new"...
It's much appreciated here @xssfox !

Just had a fun #SondeHub moment, had a guy show up in my front yard looking for a fallen sonde here. He's really new to the whole thing and I don't think he read through the whole site before going hunting.

He mistook the icon for my receiver on the map for a landed sonde. Got a chance to educate him a bit about how the whole thing worked.

Totally random encounter, but was a positive one.

Looking through the #SondeHub website at various stations to see what sorts of antennas they're reporting, as I'm about to refactor my setup here. Ran across one that said "seven inches of romex", which, okay, you do you, buddy. :)

Ha, forgot I had a number of Cushcraft 406Mhz omni gain antennas in the backyard, so putting up a #Sondehub station for #wx #weather #balloon reception was simple (threw it onto the same machine I am running #SatNOGS on... will see how that goes!). #hamradio

If your upgrading from OpenSearch 1.x to 2.3 there's a gotchya with the bulk API if you've been using _doc in your bulk api path. You'll get a

> Malformed content, found extra data after parsing: START_OBJECT"

vague error message. From _doc from the path and you should be good.

Turns out the parameters for format traceback changed between python 3.9 and 3.10 and my python version was newer than AWS Lambda. #code #sondehub
