  1. @mariatta I've been meaning to ask you what the hashtag is for PyCon? Last year I saw all of:

    #PyCon
    #PyCon23
    #PyCon2023
    #PyConUS
    #PyConUS23
    #PyConUS2023

    My wish is also for event organisers to include the day names with dates, it can make it much easier to plan.

    For example:

    Wednesday, May 15 - Thursday, May 23, 2024

    For some events, knowing weekend/weekday or even specific day means I instantly know if can rule it out.

  2. Exciting news! The incredible band 'the shards' from Redis will be rocking the stage at this year's #PyConIsrael conference! 🔥 Get ready to jam to their electrifying tunes while celebrating the magic of Python programming. 🎵 🐍

  3. Exciting to see that @PyConUS has posted the videos from , which includes my very first lightning talk at ! Nothing fancy but I hope it's a good start to pushing myself toward my goal to give more talks and presentations at conferences. You have to start somewhere!
    Here's my talk, which starts around 34:47, but I recommend browsing the other talks as well - there were some fantastic speakers there this year.

  4. And, as of today, a negative PCR test, nearly a week after I left Salt Lake City. Looks like #PyConUS's #COVID mitigations, and my precautions, worked for me!

    More on what I did: harihareswara.net/posts/2023/p & harihareswara.net/posts/2022/h . I did find that the CO2 levels in some indoor spaces were ~500-600ppm, near outdoors levels, and thus was ok with lowering my mask to sip something indoors, which I did ~15-20 times.

    Clear mask I wore on stage: jellim.com/

  5. I have gotten a negative on an antigen test and a Lucira rapid molecular test since leaving #PyConUS2023 a few days ago, in addition to my negative tests while in Salt Lake City, so things are looking good so far re: #COVID. Hope others have also remained uninfected!

  6. Some early morning thoughts on an incredible #PyConUs before traveling back to #YYZ.
    - Empathy is everything
    - Timezones still hurt
    - There is no substitute for in-person connection
    - Mastodon is good
    - Yoga is super hard. Try it. #PyActive was so good.
    - OSS == community
    - Tests are awesome. Tests in space are even more awesome.
    - Our planet is fragile
    - Bicycles == happiness
    - Travel == growth
    - High alt backcountry skiing is hard & epic

  8. I met so many kickass people at today's @circuitpython sprints! Thank you so much to everyone I talked to, everyone who submitted a PR, and everyone who stopped by to say hello. It's this kind of camaraderie and awesomeness that makes me so proud to be a part of this community. I look forward to seeing you on the other end of my laptop back home!

  9. Still anxiously awaiting videos from #PyCon2023 to drop on YouTube. I know I read they’d upload them after the conference. Does this mean after everything is done including the sprints?

  10. Back home from @PyConUS. Proud to be part of such a kind, diverse, and inspiring community.

    Now lying down with a cat on top of me. Nature is healing.

    Happy sprinting and safe travels to others!

  11. PyCon friends and yet-to-be-friends: message me if you'd like to chat tonight, especially if you're leaving tomorrow! 🐍🗣️

    I'll be somewhere near the convention center for at least a couple more hours tonight. 💖

    If you'll be here during sprints, see you tomorrow! (I'm here until Wednesday)

  12. Still working through a backlog of photos, but this one was too good not to share while everyone is still following and

  13. Please please please come sprint with us on @circuitpython at the sprints! Type annotations are how I really got started with open source contribution, and we have a BUNCH of those! And, of course, there are other issues to squash as well, including bugs, feature additions, documentation, CI improvements, and others!

  14. @willingc motivation is what brought me to too. I was able to write software to solve interesting problems for myself. My first project wanted to be “Jarvis” from iron man… didn’t get there, but it opened so many doors for me in my life ❤️

  15. The Python web framework is really interesting! It has a runtime and doesn’t require an ASGI server like hypercorn or uvicorn.

    Great talk from ✨✨

  16. The #PyConUS2023 open space on #maintainer burnout: ~20 people sharing experiences and tips. I'm writing a longer blog post with thoughts and resources, but here's the heart of my advice:
