  1. @mariatta I've been meaning to ask you what the hashtag is for PyCon? Last year I saw all of:

    #PyCon
    #PyCon23
    #PyCon2023
    #PyConUS
    #PyConUS23
    #PyConUS2023

    My wish is also for event organisers to include the day names with dates, it can make it much easier to plan.

    For example:

    Wednesday, May 15 - Thursday, May 23, 2024

    For some events, knowing weekend/weekday or even specific day means I instantly know if can rule it out.

  2. I am only a few minutes into @nedbat ‘s keynote and I can already tell I am going to love it.

    (the video is up here: youtu.be/n5QaOADqSyY along with all the other @pycon recordings on our youtube channel youtube.com/@PyConUS)

    [reposting from twitter. I really need to figure out one of those crossposting tools]

  3. @shauna ooooh, I am writing a follow-up to the #PyConUS2023 open space on maintainer burnout that @davidism facilitated, and this link is going in there!

  4. And, as of today, a negative PCR test, nearly a week after I left Salt Lake City. Looks like #PyConUS's #COVID mitigations, and my precautions, worked for me!

    More on what I did: harihareswara.net/posts/2023/p & harihareswara.net/posts/2022/h . I did find that the CO2 levels in some indoor spaces were ~500-600ppm, near outdoors levels, and thus was ok with lowering my mask to sip something indoors, which I did ~15-20 times.

    Clear mask I wore on stage: jellim.com/

  5. I gave a talk in Spanish for the @pyconcharlas at , and it was a whole lot of fun. So cool to hear people laugh live, thanks for having me! 🐍😊😁

  6. An amazing experience at , this improvised open space, talking @FastAPI, @pydantic, and type hints with Guido, the creator of Python, for 1+ hour 🤩🐍

    Even more after @samuel_colvin, @carljm (and other 10-20) joined 😎

    All because @1st1 forced him to meet me 😅

  7. Maybe this is what is about. A bunch of nerds having fun together, and ending all energized and inspired to go and build the things that the world needs us to build. 🐍😎🚀

    @mkennedy, @pradyunsg, @david_montague_, @marcelotryle twitter.com/i/web/status/16520

  8. The last part of the @pydantic team and the newly assembled team translating the @FastAPI docs to Ukrainian during the last sprint. 🤓🚀

    @marcelotryle, @david_montague_

  9. I have gotten a negative on an antigen test and a Lucira rapid molecular test since leaving #PyConUS2023 a few days ago, in addition to my negative tests while in Salt Lake City, so things are looking good so far re: #COVID. Hope others have also remained uninfected!

  10. Only cool and badass people at that table 😎 ...plus me. 😅😂

    During 🐍

  11. I've written my thoughts down for #PyConUS2023 . The 5 days meeting with "my nakama" was an intense experience and worth the 12H trip and jetlag. Thank you for your company, thoughts, ideas and friendship. Good work to @ThePSF and all the people in between that made it possible.

  12. I got to meet people that I didn't even expect in , it was a nice surprise to find some Singapore friends, Javan Tan and Su Lyn Choo, and go for dinner with them and @marlene_zw 😁

    ...also, that was a lot of ribs 😂

  13. The great @llanga! Finally met him in person in . I've been failing to meet him in 2 or 3 previous conferences. 😅

    And yes, he's as cool in person as you imagine. Actually cooler. 😎

    One of the two most metal people in Python 🤘🐍
    (the other, @pyblogsal, escaped)

  14. One of the people I was most excited to meet in was @WillingCarol 🤩

    CPython core dev, prev steering council member, Jupyter core dev, and to me, she represents the Python community 🤗

    Came for the language, stayed for Carol (and others) 😎

  15. I met @sethmlarson at ! 😁

    He's one of the maintainers of @urllib3, one of the most (the most?) downloaded Python libraries, you probably don't use it directly, but you probably use something that uses it. 😎

  16. One of the last dinners at with nice Python people. 🐍🚀

    @xsc27, @Glnnlhmn, @webknjaz

    And the new team translating the @FastAPI docs to Ukrainian 😎💪

  17. The magic of PyCon, @patrick91 got @FastAPI running on the browser, with client and everything, on @pyodide during 🤯

  19. Finally met @mkennedy from @talkpython in person! 🤗

    You will laugh hearing that episode once it's released. 😂

  20. Here's @emilyemorehouse at , she's so cool, kind and badass. 😎

    She added the walrus operator to the Python language and she's one of the five steering council members (the people that take the key and hard decisions in Python). 🦭🐘 (for the lack of a walrus emoji).

  21. Who would have guessed that @zeeg, cofounder of @getsentry and @charliermarsh, creator of Ruff and founder of @astral_sh, are even nicer and cooler in person than online! 😎😁

    At another great party in 🎉

  22. Here's @paulweveritt at , the friendly face of @pycharm 😎

    I just discovered in Guido's talk that he did a lot of the work setting up @ThePSF 🤯

    He also co-hosted one of the funnest parties at PyCon 🎉

  23. I bumped into @teoliphant on the street at 🤩

    He created @numpy_team, it powers pretty much all AI and scientific computing, from ChatGPT to black hole pics. ✨

    He recognized me and gave me a hug. Considering him a friend blows my mind. 🤯

  24. Microsoft friends at ! 🤗

    @luumelo14, @savostrowski, @kjaymiller

    Some of the people ensuring you get a nice developer experience with @FastAPI on @pythonvscode and @Azure ✨

  25. I was able to hangout a lot with the amazing @marlene_zw at 🤩

    She's such a cool person and friend, she's one of the people that represent (to me) the Python community spirit the most. 😁✨
