  1. Expectation: "Oh it's just 3 hours flight to PyCon, no big deal"
    Reality: Actually it's 8 hours 9 minutes 50 seconds door-to-door started at 5 AM 😡

  2. Taking the metro to Long Beach. Ran into other Pythonistas and folks @bengerman and Nick Denny)

  3. Typo of the day: Paint point πŸŽ¨πŸ–Œ

    (From my husband)

  4. 🎀 Speaker spotlight: Mike Fiedler

"And Now for Something Completely Legitimate" 1:30 PM, May 16

Mike works on PyPI safety & security. The title is a wink to Monty Python, and the topic is dead serious: keeping the packages that Pythonistas install every day safe and trustworthy.

If you publish to PyPI, depend on it, or worry about supply-chain risk, don’t miss this important conversation.

  5. Ice cream selfie at Sirena Gelato, Bellingham. I got the affogato, which is espresso poured over two scoops of Gelato. For the Gelato flavors, I chose Pandan and Dutch Chocolate. πŸ¦πŸ˜‹πŸ€³

  6. Finding myself using lingo from our teens even when chatting with my husband lol
I was just saying "This speaker is super OP in the Linux world so I'm going to the session"

  7. It was an honor to give the closing keynote at the George Washington University's OSCON.
Thanks to all the organizers and volunteers for putting together a great event. I attended many insightful talks about open source.

  13. PyCon APAC in Yogyakarta, Indonesia starts today!
Lots of great talks on the schedule.
No problem if you can't be here in person.
Online ticket is available and costs like $10 USD. (Yes only one zero, not a typo)

I'd love it if more folks could join us online and support the community.

  14. Less than 10 days before @pyladiescon CFP closes (Sept 15)

If you're not sure about what kind of talks you can give, watch this video, featuring awesome PyLadies members @t_redactyl, Anna Makarudze, @cheukting_ho, Maria Jose Molina, @whykay, and myself 😊

  15. Pro tip: Conference organizers love it when you submit your talk proposal weeks before the CFP closes (instead of on the day of).

So, let's make conference organizers near you happy by submitting your talk proposal early.

and both have CFPs closing in about 2 weeks from now!

  16. I'm glad to see this coming from the Python Steering Council πŸ‘

Like it or not, OS maintainers and core devs are seen as leaders of the project and the community, and should be held at a higher standard of behavior.

  18. Before getting a copy of Star Ocean The Second Story R:
    - Waking up next to my phone

After getting a copy of Star Ocean The Second Story R:
    - Waking up next to my Nintendo Switch

  19. I received my copy of Star Ocean The Second Story R yesterday, and started playing it.

The graphics are beautiful! 😍 Wow!

The remake is not just updating the graphics but a whole new battle system too. Feels like I'm learning how to play it all over again.

  20. I turn on the "Partner Sharing" feature on my Google Photos app on my phone.

It automatically uploads any photos I take when I travel and my husband will see it right away (or as soon as he checks his photo app)

I take lots of selfies and of places I went to, so if anything ever happens while I'm traveling alone, hopefully he could use the photo of my last selfie as a traceback. πŸ₯Ή

  21. Just found out that my favorite video game ever, Star Ocean: The Second Story, is being remade. 🀩🀩🀩

Star Ocean The Second Story R will be released in November for Nintendo Switch, Play Station 4, 5, and PC (Steam).

Already pre-ordered the Nintendo Switch version. I'm so excited that I get to play this game again after 20 years!!! 🀩
