“It doesn’t mean our work is done. Far from it. …No one should confuse why I’m here,” #Biden said. “I’m not here to take a victory lap. I’m not here to say a job well done. I’m not here to say we don’t have a hell of a lot more work to do. We do have more work to do.
“But what I am here to speak about is how far we’ve come, how we got here, & most importantly the foundation that I believe built for a more #prosperous & #equitable future in #America,” Biden said.

19 October 2016"Hatshepsut (r. 1479-1458 BCE) was the first female ruler of ancient Egypt to reign as a male with the full authority of #pharaoh. Her name means 'Foremost of Noble Women' or 'She is First Among Noble Women'. She began her reign as regent to her stepson Thutmose III (r. 1458-1425 BCE) who would succeed her.
"Initially, she ruled as a woman as depicted in statuary but, at around the seventh year of her reign, she chose to be depicted as a #MalePharaoh in statuary and reliefs though still referring to herself as female in her inscriptions. She was the fifth pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty during the period known as the New Kingdom (c. 1570 to c. 1069 BCE) and regarded as one of the most #prosperous and the era of the Egyptian Empire.
"Although she is sometimes cited as the first female ruler of Egypt, or the only one, there were women who reigned before her such as #Merneith (r. c. 3000 BCE) in the Early Dynastic Period (probably as regent) and #Sobeknefru (r. c. 1807-1802 BCE) in the Middle Kingdom and #Twosret (r. 1191-1190 BCE) after her toward the end of the 19th Dynasty. Hatshepsut, though not the first or last, is undoubtedly the best-known female ruler of ancient Egypt after #Cleopatra VII (r. c. 69-30 BCE) and one of the most successful monarchs in Egyptian history."

Here's the source data for stat Statista chart. By the default sorting the #US is the #19th #most #prosperous #nation, behind Belgium, Austria, Norway ... well, most of Europe actually. And Singapore and Iceland. And New Zealand and Australia.
But hey! We're ahead of #Estonia (by a little) and Bulgaria. That's not so terrible, right?
Sort by #healthcare, and we're worse off than ... Armenia, Jamaica, Albania, Belarus, Iran, Croatia, Uzbekistan ... we're only nine places ahead of Nicaragua. Twentieth in education. 29th in living conditions.
Greatest nation on earth? Hah! Yeah, if you're a CORPORATION or a multimillionaire.
But hey, we're safe and secure in the US, right?
Nope. 69th place again. You're less safe in the United States than in Moldova, Serbia, Namibia or Laos.
Play with the chart a little. It's ... enlightening to see where the US's strengths are ... and its weaknesses. -
It means a more solitary life, but at least I have one. For that, I am grateful now, and every day.
This year, I vow to make a difference locally. To get grassroots efforts together to clean the air, and to borrow a phrase, have a HEPA New Year.
Schools, restaurants, theatres, malls, and everywhere that is public should be implementing ways to purify the air we share.
Here's to a #healthy and #prosperous #newyear!

I wish you a #Happy, #Healthy and #Prosperous #2023
