Came across the app ProofMode in the Guardian Project repository for F-Droid. Cool photo app that automatically creates a hash of pictures or videos you take and can share that with others.

I have no need for it personally, that I can think of now, but it's nice to know it exists.

I believe you are familiar with #blockchains that are based on #ProofOfWork, so it should be sufficient to say that the energy required by #bitcoin is already an estimated 120 Twh annually, surpassing several countries.

While single users may try to calm their conscience by only using a fraction of this (and #ProofMode by pointing to its aggregation mechanism), it's the sheer scaling effect that matters. Merely by using the bitcoin blockchain with others, you'd also be contributing to stabilizing bitcoin, fostering an even wider usage of it, and faster burning of our planet.
