  6. Reading to 140 children and their families at Union County Performing Arts Center on Earth Day

Reading environmental books to children at Union County Performing Arts Center

On Earth Day a few weeks ago I had the honor to volunteer to read environmental books to children at Union County Performing Arts Center. There were over 140 children and their families in attendance.

It was a most rewarding experience, not only doing something nice for the kids, but to be on the legendary stage. Union County Performing Arts Center is one of my favorite places in New Jersey. It’s not only gorgeous, but they have fantastic shows. (And I get to write about many of them for Union County Local Source).

This was also the place where School of Rock was filmed.

From covering stories there, the past three years, I’ve made some great connections with those who work there, who I call my “Union County Performing Arts Center FAMILY.”

Whether work, play, or volunteering, I’m always happy to go there.

  12. Earth Day march in Montréal. Thousands of signs blaming governments and corporations, and they're right to. Governments and industries carry massive responsibility for the climate crisis.
But you can't credibly march for the planet while funding its destruction 3x a day. 95% of those marchers still eat animals at every meal.
    I was 15, alone, holding a cow 🐄
Going vegan is the baseline. Then we point fingers.

  17. The Manitoba Eco-Network would like to thank the Riverview Community Centre for inviting us to table at their Green Fair last week, as part of their Earth Day celebrations.

This was a great opportunity to speak with community members, learn about local climate actions, and practice sustainability through their clothing swap.

  19. @screwlisp @jameshowell @ramin_hal9001 @kentpitman

The point on radicalization at the beginning of the show had me thinking about how radicalization of humanity into diametric opposites seems inevitable today.

I wonder, if AI could trivially solve our climate crises 'tomorrow', could we overcome that polarization (as the enacting machines lack ego), or would the human stewardship still put us in some kind of political paralysis?
