Just to remember, #HurricaneOtis made landfall as a Category 5 #hurricane on October 25, last year, while all models expected it to be at most Category 1.
Otis devastated the resort city of #Acapulco leaving an estimated 350 casualties.

We think just heat. Think instead energy, power, volatility, unpredictability, patterns breaking, records broken, intuitions violated.

Climate snaps routine.
We expect worse, yet change shocks.
Change is worse than worse.

@breadandcircuses @elizkolbert #HurricaneOtis should have been the lead story in every news outlet. Going from Tropical Storm strength to Category 5 in 12 hours is breathtaking -- and makes preparation (or evacuation of highly populated areas) close to impossible.
