Mundial 2026 pondrá a prueba la infraestructura de las ciudades sedes
· En los próximos años aumentará el turismo ligado al prestigio y a la notoriedad internacional que ganó por ser sede, argumentó

La infraestructura de las tres metrópolis más grandes del país -ciudad de México (Cdmx), Guadalajara y Monterrey- sedes de la Copa Mundial de Futbol 2026, se pondrá a prueba y podría ser que los visitantes sobrepasen la capacidad de carga que hasta ahora tienen, reconoció la doctora en Geografía adscrita al Departamento de Geografía Económica del IGg de la UNAM, Ilia Alvarado Sizzo.
Con base en estimaciones de la Secretaría de Turismo, refirió, llegarán a nuestro país aproximadamente cinco millones de visitantes, y se prevé que generen un impacto económico de dos mil a cuatro mil millones de dólares.
En un primer nivel quienes recibirán más beneficios son la Ciudad de México, Nuevo León y Jalisco, donde se jugarán los partidos, y se registrarán incrementos importantes en la ocupación hotelera, consumo en restaurantes, transporte, entradas a museos y comercios vinculados con el turismo internacional.
Les seguirían aquellos que tienen destinos consolidados: Quintana Roo, Yucatán, Oaxaca, Guanajuato, Michoacán, Guerrero y Puebla. A decir de la experta, si se logra integrar en circuitos las urbes sede y los sitios turísticos a conocer podría haber más estados favorecidos.
Por ejemplo, Acapulco, que está relativamente cerca de la capital del país, se promociona como la playa del Mundial, mientras que Morelia y Puebla se prepararon para recibir viajeros que vengan a la CDMX, anotó.
Por su proximidad a las sedes también están Coahuila y Tamaulipas, inmediatas a Monterrey; así como Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosí y Nayarit, en el caso de Guadalajara.
Numerosos visitantes internacionales aprovecharán para recorrer lugares famosos, por ejemplo las playas de Quintana Roo, Yucatán, Baja California, Oaxaca y algunas zonas arqueológicas alrededor de la Ciudad de México, pues son prácticamente imperdibles, consideró la experta.
Estos turistas son heterogéneos: mientras algunos vienen exclusivamente a presenciar los partidos, celebrar con su selección y hospedarse cerca de los estadios, otros prefieren combinar con vacaciones culturales o de playa y asistir a lugares emblemáticos, abundó.
De acuerdo con Alvarado Sizzo, estos megaeventos deportivos son, al mismo tiempo, megaeventos turísticos y proyectan una imagen de la nación hacia el exterior.
“La impresión por la experiencia vivida se queda en el imaginario turístico por varios años o puede desaparecer en pocos meses si no existe una estrategia nacional para aprovechar el boom de fama internacional que da un acontecimiento de esa magnitud”.
Alvarado Sizzo consideró que capitalizar el Mundial depende en gran medida de la gestión que se efectúe, de la repercusión mediática y la publicidad que reciba México. Pero sin duda en los próximos años se elevará el turismo ligado a la fama y a la notoriedad global que ganó por ser sede. –sn–

The bit that you skip #93: Gazelle – At last, friend
Many songs tend to remind you of your childhood. Another quantity, perhaps greater, hark back to your teenage days. Then there’s songs that make you think of your early adulthood. The wide eyed rookie days. Wages are minuscule, possibilities are endless, and nothing is written in pen.
After Headlights broke up, I trawled for everything related to the Fein clan. First it was Absinthe Blind and their wondrous space age dreamy rock. Then I went for Ad Fein’s and Jeff Dimpsey’s Peléan eruption of a band, Gazelle. Healthy doses of dream pop and electronica gave us an album that sounded like nothing else. Perhaps what U2 wanted to do with POP, Gazelle did with their only album.
Just as I graduated from Electronics and Telecommunications, I went hogwild into ambient and lounge music. After a stint at Ericsson in Gustavo Baz, which wasn’t too far from my house, I got sent to a communications hub in Polanco in Lago Alberto, where it always smelled like chocolate due to La Holandesa being near. After a couple of weeks, I absconded to another central, a few blocks from Lago Alberto, on Kepler. The disorganised wires, dusty countertops and odd rodents of unusual size on the lower flowers contrasted with the upper floor, where I befriended two people, Chrissie and Alan. We would spent most of the time talking and eating in nearby places than doing much work, since a lot of it was tests that took time and the real crunch was understanding the output, then correcting anything in our means.
I would walk from Metro Polanco to Kepler, a good 2 km walk. The metro trip was brutal, as it was peak hour and you were, as Radiohead bluntly said it once, packt like sardines in a crushd tin pack. I wouldn’t dare to use my cd player as you could barely moved an arm, much less try to adjust volume in a noisy commute. Once out of the metro station, I’d go for a small coffee at a small joint on the way to Kepler’s telephone central. I would listen to any Café del Mar compilation I had ready, or just whatever electronica mix a friend gave me.
Chrissie and Alan eventually had to go back to London and we would meet a couple of times later but no longer as employees for Telcel, but as ex-coworkers. I considered them friends. Alan sadly passed away from cancer a few years later. He was pencil thin, and always smoking, holding his cig in a strange “inside ash” manner. Chrissie I talked to a few times, first after arriving at Nottingham in 2002, then after arriving in Sheffield in 2008. I’ve lost track, as one does with friends in life. It’s not intentional, it’s just something that happens and even if we never meet again, we had good times, like the trip we took to Teotihuacán with one of her friends that speak no English at all and paid my tourist guide with delicious plum candies. Or a strange trip to Acapulco where we barely escaped being on a disco boat that meet a grisly end (no casualties, thankfully).
Gazelle’s At last, friend evokes memories of both Chrissie and Mark. Chrissie usually went as “Chwissy” as a joke, and Alan…well, his devil-may-care attitude was always juxtaposed with an encyclopedic knowledge of telecommunications. The song also reminds me of my first days in Nottingham, wandering through town aimlessly. In fact, a few songs that have effect on me. I don’t think I’ll ever have that wide-eye feeling again. But nothing is written in pen. That never changes, though.

A pelota court, pictured, was the highlight for me, but there were plenty of temples and pyramids around too. About 80 of us visited in 4 smaller groups, and we had armed national guards at the site and the place to ourselves as it opened today specifically for us.

Hablar de Cantinflas es hablar de una de las figuras más influyentes del siglo XX en México.
El personaje del “peladito” ingenuo, desaliñado y verbalmente incontrolable contrastaba con el hombre real: calculador, disciplinado y dueño de un poder considerable dentro de la industria del espectáculo.Nació en 1911 en Ciudad de México como Mario Fortino Alfonso Moreno Reyes.
Hijo de Pedro Moreno, cartero, y María de la Soledad Reyes, creció en una familia numerosa y humilde.
Antes del éxito pasó por oficios variados: boxeador amateur, taxista, ayudante, incluso soldado tras mentir sobre su edad, experiencia que terminó mal cuando fue expulsado.
Su formación artística surgió en las carpas, teatros populares itinerantes donde desarrolló el personaje que lo haría famoso.
Adoptó el nombre “Cantinflas” para evitar que su familia asociara el apellido Moreno con ese ambiente marginal.El personaje explotó en el cine durante la llamada Época de Oro mexicana.
Películas como "Ahí está el detalle" lo consolidaron, y más tarde participó en producciones internacionales como "Around the World in 80 Days", donde ganó un Globo de Oro.
En pantalla era improvisación y caos verbal; fuera de ella, era control absoluto.Uno de los episodios más controvertidos de su vida fue el caso de su hijo, Mario Arturo Moreno Ivanova.
Oficialmente fue presentado como adoptado en 1961, fruto del matrimonio con la actriz rusa Valentina Ivanova.
Sin embargo, investigaciones posteriores sostienen que el niño era hijo biológico de Cantinflas con una joven estadounidense, Marion Roberts.
Según distintas versiones, habría existido un acuerdo económico para que el actor se quedara con el menor.
Roberts murió tiempo después en Ciudad de México, y el episodio quedó envuelto en silencio y versiones contradictorias.
Nunca se ventiló judicialmente de forma concluyente, pero el rumor marcó la biografía del actor.En lo profesional, Cantinflas acumuló poder.
Fue una figura central en la Asociación Nacional de Actores (ANDA), donde ejerció influencia considerable.
Se le describía como frío y poco dado a la camaradería.
Además, alcanzó el grado 33 en la masonería mexicana, lo que reforzó su red de contactos políticos y empresariales.
No era solo cómico: era empresario, productor y estratega de su propia imagen.Su casa en Acapulco, ubicada en el sector de Las Playas, simbolizaba esa dualidad.
La mansión contaba con muelle privado, piscina con figuras marinas y decoración mitológica que alimentó leyendas sobre obsesiones esotéricas o “sirenas”.
Con el paso del tiempo y tras su muerte, la propiedad quedó abandonada y hoy es un cascarón deteriorado frente al mar, más cercano a la ruina que al glamour que alguna vez representó.Murió el 20 de abril de 1993 por cáncer de pulmón.
Sus restos descansan en el Panteón Español de la Ciudad de México.
Pero su muerte no cerró la historia.La herencia abrió un conflicto judicial que duró más de dos décadas.

Nietos en la ruina, su hijo fallecido tras años de excesos y los derechos de sus 39 películas en manos del sobrino.
El mito del imperio sólido terminó fracturado.Aunque Mario Arturo fue nombrado heredero universal de bienes materiales, el sobrino del actor, Eduardo Moreno Laparade, reclamó los derechos de 39 películas.
Presentó un documento firmado presuntamente poco antes de la muerte del comediante donde se le cedían los derechos de explotación. En 2014, la Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación falló a favor del sobrino, reconociéndole la titularidad de las películas y las regalías acumuladas.El abogado del actor declaró que Cantinflas desconfiaba de la capacidad de su hijo para administrar el legado económico y que por eso habría tomado esa decisión.
Con el tiempo, Mario Arturo dilapidó gran parte de la fortuna entre litigios y problemas personales.
Murió en 2017 de un infarto, en medio de escándalos y dificultades económicas.
Los bienes restantes pasaron a su viuda, lo que abrió nuevos desacuerdos con los descendientes.El contraste es evidente. El hombre que encarnó al desposeído terminó construyendo un imperio financiero. El artista que criticaba las desigualdades acumuló poder real en sindicatos y tribunales. Y el legado que parecía sólido se fragmentó en juicios, ruinas y disputas familiares.
Cantinflas fue un símbolo cultural indiscutible.
Pero detrás del traje raído había un empresario frío, un estratega que entendió como pocos el valor de su marca y la importancia de controlar cada contrato.
No fue un personaje simple.
