To remove EXIF and other metadata from your photos before uploading them anywhere, just quickly run:

    exiftool -all= -overwrite_original_in_place filename.jpg
    xattr -cr filename.jpg

Very nice for whole folders as well!

If you’ve enabled geotagging on your phone, each pic may store GPS data (EXIF metadata) — pinpointing where it was taken.

✅ Disable camera location access (iOS/Android)
    ✅ Strip metadata before sharing
📍 Some platforms remove this info, but don’t rely on it.

  26. 🔒 Privacy Pro Tip! 🔒

If, like me, you find yourself using apps that have a reputation for being a bit invasive (yes, TikTok, I'm looking at you!), here's a nifty trick to help protect your personal space even while you indulge in some entertaining content.

Consider installing these privacy-invading apps inside Android's "Work Profile." 📱 What's that, you ask? It's like having a secret sandbox where these apps can play, away from your personal data and sensitive information.

How to do it? Well, there's a cool open-source app called "Shelter" that can help you set up this sandboxed environment. It's like giving these apps their own little world to roam in, while your personal stuff stays safe and sound.

So, why not give it a whirl? Your privacy deserves a little extra love, and Shelter's got your back. 🛡️

  31. A #privacyTip I rarely see repeated: only use passcode access to your device when crossing the US border, not fingerprints or face ID. Your passcode is protected speech and you can't be compelled to provide it, while your face and fingerprints are free game if the border guards want to rifle through your phone.

  39. Never stop learning…

    Here's a #gpg tip.

One can use the --hidden-recipient argument (-R) rather than simply --recipient (-r) to not put the Recipient ID in an encrypted message. This might help to prevent exposure to traffic analysis.

Want to check if it’s disabled? Head to our site (dpi.onrender.com) and scroll to the bottom of the page! And don’t worry- we have no trackers or cookies on the site!

  41. #PrivacyTip of the Day (7/16/21): Password managers save lives. Keep your passwords secure and in one spot… just make sure the password for the manager is extremely secure!

Always double check for an HTTPS connection when using a website (or install HTTPS everywhere). It’s easy to click on a site only to later realize that the 🔒icon is missing from the url banner
