what is crazy is that on #gnulinux you still can't use A-Painter, the #aframe equivalent since there is still no #WebVR browser for gnu/linux ...
the #mozilla efforts are concentrated on proprietary OSes and the #OpenVR support that was started is actually obsolete in the meantime (>3 years!!) as it has been replaced by #OpenXR ... and still no impementation in view...(#exokit seems dead since a few month and does not work anymore... ?!)
it's depressing... :/
-
so it appears latest versions (2.91 alpha - this will trickle down to 2.90 and 2.83) of #blender finally works well in #vr with #openxr on #linux with #openvr backend or #monado, at least with AMD video cards (navi10 chips)
the #eevee rendering is even pretty usable if you disable some effects that need multiple redraws (like bloom or volumetric shadows)>> It's finally an everyday tool !
(very useful for architecture or furniture design, or game design... )

so since latest updates from last days now TheDarkMod v2.09 alpha with VR is working well on Linux with SteamVR or Monado OpenXR
looking forward to explore the environment under that perspective, and see how to possibly improve the UX (now playable with ... mouse and keyboard on a seated position... as it keeps the same UI principle from 2D version )

mmm ...cool! : it looks like we'll get #blender #openxr #vr viewport on #linux with standard OpenVR driver ... it support OpenGL now :)
(#monado is great project but still not day-to-day usable)
there is just some new bugs introduced in #openvr that breaks it for all ... but I suppose once this is solved it will work ! (I confirm the bug here)

pretty pleased by the export of an x11 app with #OpenVR working "out of the box" in #godotengine 3.1alpha :D #VR
-

mmm...I generally avoid Object Oriented Programing as (imho) it tends to render the code too self oriented (egotist) sometimes and you hardly understand a software made with a bunch of intertwined oop libs, but he! ... sometimes it makes sense... ;)
as for now it helps, and I can read HTC-Vive trackers in python \o/
BGE beware, it's coming at you !
