In my search for #notes taking applications, and especially to help me track #tasks , where I was mostly looking at #Trilium, #joplin #joplinapp , and eyeing a bit #obsidan #ObsidianMD (it's not open source, and for work use would be paid), I just learned about #SilverBullet . It's certainly intriguing, but I'm not sure yet what I think about it 🤔
(Feel free to engage with this post with advice etc, I guess it is me asking)

I have tried so many note taking tools. @obsidian is by far the best tool. Even more so, since I have switched to Obsidian sync.

I'm working on a #Neovim / #HelixEditor-inspired #Markdown & #Gemtext editor, á la #Obsidan. It's written in #Rust. Did I get all of the buzzwords?
The code? Shit.
The design? Nonexistent.
Features? Not implemented. It doesn't even do anything yet. The only command implemented is `:q`. But it *is* a start, aha.

Finally got a nice #SelfHosted #Obsidan sync alternative set up.
I'm running #Syncthing on my Le Potato server, phone, and desktop. I wrote a #Bash script to monitor for file changes and perform #git commits to a private #Codeberg repo. It's a backup system and versioning all in one, nice. Got it set up as a systemd autorestart service too.
The script is pretty simple, but if anyone wanted to take a gander at it I've got a repo for it on Codeberg: https://codeberg.org/fenndev/notesync

@ctietze Nice, thanks! I would probably try #Obsidan primarily, I use #roamresearch as my daily #pkm at the moment but trying to migrate to local first.
Comparison-wise, Obsidian vs LogSeq, maybe try Roam vs Tana for a larger set of notes too. I'm more messing around than actively researching though

I guess I’ll have to add loosely integrating Streaks and @foodnoms into my #obsidan setup via Shortcuts to the list of things to write up.
(I don’t think Obsidian is good tool for either habit tracking or food diaries - there’s *way* too much overhead - but I do want an overview of where I am in my daily note, which I use as a sort of action dashboard.)
Streaks has really good Shortcuts integration now, by the way.

What is your naming convention for your notes?
I’ve used <domain> - unique title. Yet, I realized lately that notes become more and more interdisciplinary and this is not working anymore. Any suggestion?

Question for #obsidanMD #obsidan folks:
How do you organize locations?
- Each location to its own note, which is then cross-linked? So `department` would be linked to `company` which would be linked to the `city` where it is located.
- Hierarchy inside a few notes. This would look like `[[country#subregion#city#company#department]]`?
- Some completely different system?

@alxd @joonhyeok_ahn
oh crap, I always thought #obsidan is FLOSS.. Thanks for checking out. At least my data is in .md -
Such a fun list to add to your daily-notes: Movies that are somehow related to specific dates: https://letterboxd.com/crew/list/dating-the-movies-august/detail/
FYI Today is Point Break day; Swayze and Reeves in an adrenaline fueled 122 minutes

I'm spending Friday evening reintegrating the contents of my Gaming #obsidan vault into my main one, partly because I can't bear to face setting up the Zotero integration again and partly because I've decided that the RPG manager plugin (which I didn't want in my main vault) makes the files too dependent on it. It's already going to take me some work to convert the campaign I started with it to plain Markdown. #ttrpg

@billseipel everyday. Golang, Java, Python, Ansible and K8S. Sometimes even #Obsidan
