  1. “Tell Mama” from Etta James’ The Montreux Years, a terrific live double-album featuring songs from five appearances the late, great “Miss Peaches” made at the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland between 1977 and 1993. #ettajames #randb #vinyl #recordcollection #montreuxjazz

  3. One reason I like going to #live #music #concerts is watching the artists - including off stage - work together.
#MontreuxJazz adds another dimension to this: the live video. Even in 1998, the live video was spectacular. The camera team was a well oiled machine.

I have the greatest respect for people doing jobs where they have no chance for a make over.
Only a small part of my job is like that and not as high stakes. I’m not even sure I’m able to fully appreciate what they do.

  4. It looks like I’ll be occupied in the evening for the next two weeks.

I applaud the decision to offer free live streams for MontreuxJazz 2025.

„Music fans from all over the world will be able to experience the Festival from a distance: around thirty concerts will be broadcast live and free of charge on our YouTube channel.“

As always it happens in early July, this time from 2024-07-05 to 2024-07-20. Traditionally, the concept of Jazz is very broad.

Between 1998 and 2018, I’ve been visiting the festival 11 times and it was always good.

Thank you so much, Venita! That's a really fun article. I learned some things, and I've been a big fan of Mr. McCann since "Compared to What". I burned out a few records of his.

  7. #l8n8music ... watch out:
the most famous JAZZ Melody was on BASS?! Erykah Badu / Miles Davis @ Scott's Base Lessons
I was so lucky to see #ErykahBadu live @ #MontreuxJazz in their early years.
