Second 1968 Bill Evans performance I’ve posted this week, this one has the trio (again with Eddie Gomez and Jack DeJohnette) at Casino de Montreux in Switzerland, and was recorded by the technical department of Radio Suisse Romande.

My copy (via a private sale) is the 2020 Analogue Productions reissue on two 45rpm 200g records, cut by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab. Sounds fantastic, though I can’t say I like having to change the platter twice as often.

Mose Allison, Lessons in Living, 1983 on Elektra Musician

Recorded live at the Montreux Jazz Festival July 21st, 1982 with Jack Bruce (bass), Billy Cobham (drums), Lou Donaldson (alto sax), and Eric Gale (guitar) joining Allison.

Elektra Musician was a jazz oriented subsidiary of Elektra/Asylum, and started in 1982 – it was absorbed into Nonesuch in 1994.

My copy—via Aux 33 Tours in Montréal QC—is a Speciality pressing with a promo stamp and printed promotional use label.

Bought tickets for FKA twigs and The Black Keys at Montreux in July. We don’t get many big acts coming past this neck of the woods, but Montreux Jazz usually delivers.

Past experiences have been Massive Attack, Air, Alison Krauss and Robert Plant, Rufus Wainright, The Scissor Sisters.
