So why is this done and how often is it done?
This is done to make sure that the phenylalanine (phe) levels in my bloodstream are at a reasonable level - #pku means my body is unable to break down phe properly so it can accumulate in my bloodstream, where it gets into my brain and causes brain damage (such fun!).
